Which is best version to play.

There are no OOB National Advantages like in Revised, but our Chicago Rules {for AA50-41} has some that you might want to incorporate. Send me a PM with your email if you’d like a copy.

BTW, I love the map changes in AA50 over classic, 2nd and Revised. We loved revised with the community developed house rules set AARe (Enhanced). No OOB AA game, in my humble, somewhat limited experience, has ever been balanced. In other words, with a little tweaking, the games can be balanced, and have other possible strategies other than the usual Race for Berlin/Moscow.

“Best” is a very personal and subjective term.

I think Anniversary Edition is the “best” of all A&A editions.  However, it was a limited edition and you’d be hard pressed to find a copy that is reasonably priced, even used at this point in time.

Others think Spring 1942 2nd Edition is the best.  However, it is a shorter game with fewer details than some of the others (1 step up from the “introductory level” 1941 edition), but still quite fun.

Many consider the 1940 Pacific/Europe editions the best.  However, they are much more involved, longer games (and requires the purchase of 2 games to combine them into one if you want the global experience).

TL;DR - Nobody can answer your question.  It’s a personal preference, and we don’t know what you’re looking for.

Eh, barring the insanity of JWW’s inability to hit a bomber with an AA Gun, America’s inability to defend it’s fleet when it clearly has superior odds (defined as sinking what should have been left with her bombers and losing only one bomber)…I don’t think it is overly bad.

America + Russia > Japan
England = Germany + Italy income (last round Germany + Italy edged ahead of England.  Factors in a continued 15-20 IPC damage to Germany each round, he’s not hitting bombers anyway.)

Yes, the Japanese fleet is in the Med…and yes, the Japanese fleet in the Pacific should have been gone, but otherwise, it’s not THAT bad.

If the bid needed to balance AA50 41 is more than revised, then you would win almost every game, there is no one who will play revised w/o bids.

If you really are serious with this, you also think that all the other PBF players on aa.org would like to lose all the games they play against you, b/c they play allies w/o bids?

The 2 best are either Italy or Russia

Italy because they are the smallest and don’t have to deal with a lot of logistics

The Russkies because you can follow 1 simple strategy ( go all out on the fascists) and still do fairly well

I am beginning to wonder if the Heavy Bomber rule that has some people bent so out of shape is in there to compensate for the large boost that attaining National Objectives gives the Axis.  As a guess, it is going to be easier for the Axis to attain their objectives, and more productive to them than for the Allies to attain their objectives, which do not appear to give them anywhere the same boost.
