HBG Japanese Pieces
-
Does anyone know when HBG is going to have their Japanese pieces (Paratrooper, Light Carrier, Big Artillery, etc.) back in stock? They said the factory printed them in the wrong color a few months ago, but even those wrong color pieces aren’t being sold on the website, even though HBG said they would be.
-
I was holding off completing on an order as I wanted to add some of the Japanese pieces I am missing. I gave up as it was taking to long. I asked Doug and apparently the pieces are in but he has do some work assorting them, putting them on the website etc.

When he said the pieces were in, did he mean the wrong color ones or the correct ones? And how long ago was this?
-
The wrong colored ones were in about a month ago.

Thanks for the previous contributions to these topics. Also missing a bunch of Pumpkin Orange Japanese units for my GW36 setup.
Light carriers, paratroopers, transport plane and heavy bomber.
Based on opinions from people who’ve been watching their website avidly for far longer than I have, how long do things typically go out of stock for? (months, years, once they’re gone they’re gone)
And did anyone go overboard with their purchases and fancies selling any of the above units in Pumpkin Orange? :-D
To the original poster the 1941 Japanese carrier variant is a good stand in as a light carrier as looks quite different from the 42 fleet carrier, and whilst same length (so not ideal) is noticeably smaller on the board. That’s my stand in for now.

Were they sold on the website? I can’t find them under Japanese pieces.
-
Yeah on their monthly news letter they stated that they’d be selling the mis-colored pieces for a discount. I’ve watched very closely and I’ve yet to see any update. He mentioned these would be great for the “painters” out there.

Would be interested in the wrong color as well…will paint anyway…

Was able to order “pink” Kate’s
-
Was able to order pink Kates
Pink was allegedly used (perhaps just experimentally) as a paint scheme for some WWII Spitfires intended for reconnaissance missions in the pastel lighting conditions of dawn or sunset:

Got a reply back from HBG on Japanese pieces. Word for word:
‘We received them but they came in the wrong colour, won’t be until winter now’
So there you go….
-
Won’t be until winter for which? The wrong colored one’s or a correct color re-order?
The wrong colored one’s arrived almost 6 months ago, strange to wait almost a year to put it for sale.
-
Presume the ‘right’ coloured ones given the response, and the fact I made no reference to the ‘wrong’ coloured ones in my query.
The time delay would suggest to me they may have changed their minds about putting the wrong coloured ones up for sale.

Assuming anyone is still wondering, HBG has put their wrong color pieces up for sale, at blow-out prices: $2.50 to $2.00 for a set of 10 pieces, twice the usual amount. The wrong color sets came in for Axis Minors in German Grey and Italian Brown, Russia Early War in Russian Maroon, Japanese Sets 1 and 2 in Burnt Orange, and Neutral sets in Blue, Green, and Grey. Links below, and happy hunting!
