I’ve played many games and the time ranges from around 5-6 hours to 2 or 3 games I’ve played that lasted over 20 hours, but do you know what? those real long games have turned out to be some of the best ones, we just stop playing after a round then pick it up again later and keep going,

RE: Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion thread
And if we are now revisting the air units each nation will have I would suggest you produce 6 different air unit classes.
Fighter
Carrier aircraft
Jet Fighter
Dive Bomber/Light Bomber
Medium Bomber
Heavy/Stratigic BomberIf you did this, you would touch on all of the combat air units of the war.
And yes the haftracks and truck certainly cover the mech/motor infantry unit.
Just what I would want.
I don’t think all those planes are nessessary , after all, FM says this is an expensive project for them as it is without adding on a whole bunch of stuff that is not needed to play Axis & Allis.

RE: Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion thread
Well after hearing the reviews about the new AA42 I would think that the Field Marshall games pieces progect is a go! from what I read the pieces are just ok and FMG’s will be much better. So I say go for it FMG, I will be buying at least 3 sets from you guys and I’m sure my friends will be too!

RE: Check out new "Rising Tide!"
It’s to big, it will take to long to play, and I will just stick to AA-50, these guys will probably get sued and we’ll never see them again.

RE: AA50 Rules Errata and Q+A
As big dog suggests in the referenced Thread by Krieghund, we will just ignore this errata change.
It serves no purpose in game play, except to limit the use of the tech. And as Tim the Enchanter said in that same thread…. IFP is nerfed, but HBs are not?
If you ignore that errata change then why not ignore any official rule in the game, because it is an official rule, made by Larry Harris, I mean after all you are much more qualified to decide what’s a better way to play the game he invented, right?
It’s called a house rule.
I know it’s called a house rule , that’s what I’m saying , keep it in your house not mine. You go ahead and play how you want to play , but don’t try to force your idea on how to change the game into the rule book, because if we did that then it’s your game not Larry’s and I for one want to play his game not yours. I understand perfectly the reasoning behind this errata change and it makes more sense than your opinions do.

RE: Most useless technology?
None of the techs are useless if you know how to use them right. I have found that all of them contribute to the many different ways to play this game.

@WILD:
Thanks guys for backing me up on these 2 ipc tt w/ imp factory tech. Maybe we should start a pole or its own tread? I’d do it but maybe someone with more clout should. Looks like we lost Krieghund on this one. He most likely can’t give up to many details. Maybe it was brought up and voted down in the process?
I agree with Wild Bill… the cut off of >= 3 units seems arbitrary to me, no rhyme nor reason
What’s with you guys who want to change the game the way it was created? what makes you think you know better than the guy who invented the game?, have any of you ever created anything as creative as this game is? you don’t like a certain aspects of the best game ever made and you want to start a poll to get things changed your way. This game is as well thought out as any game I’ve ever seen , I don’t want ANYTHING changed in it , that’s my poll vote.

RE: Simple question: is the game balanced?
I have played over 50 games. Dont play without the National Objectives. It upsets the game balance.
That said the game is balanced.
But it is heavily strategy dependant.
Strategies are almost never equal. (and dice are well… dice)
You need to have a plan, stick to it, and know what your doing. More so, also be able to identify what your opponent is doing and respond to that appropriately. I believe that was larry’s intention and vision for this game. It’s his masterpiece.
dont believe the bid hype about the allies needing help in a game with national objectives.
There isn’t a person on the site i couldnt have a 50% or better chance of beating in a no bid game as the allies. And that challenge stands. There seems to be alot of people who agree to play against me, but dont :s ??? anyways…
The only issue as i have stated, is the comparative strategy paradigm which is still developing. So put your Logistics cap on, and get in the fight to find out for yourself :p
You are absolutely correct sir! this is Larry’s masterpiece and I have found it to be exactly the way you described it. I feel it’s the best game ever made.

RE: AA50 Rules Errata and Q+A
@Emperor:
Do anti-aircraft guns count as a unit in terms of maximum production in a territory? For example: can I produce 2 inf and an aa gun in Karelia? Thanks.
Yes, AA guns count against production capacity. Karelia could build 1inf, 1AA, unless you have the Increased Factory Production Technology then you could build a total of 4 units (including AA).
But the rules state that only territories that are that have 3 or higher for maximum production can double their production capacity, so Karelia cannot produce more than 2 units.
