• Do you think this game is better balanced than AAPacific?  Do both sides have a good chance of winning depending on how the game goes?

  • @Lozmoid:

I’m still waiting for a phone call from my local game store! I’m in UK and I believe it has been released today. Absolutely champing at the bit for this title. Will post again as soon as I’ve picked up my copy… :|

where did you get it if you dont mind me asking.  im from UK had to import it.

  • Oh boy!  :-(

Figured I would get a few things wrong!!

I too am curious about that. Also, what price are people paying? It seems to be pricier than Anniversary, even though it should be the same.

  • I paid $67 u.s dollars

  • Any thoughts of attacking sea zone 26, Pearl Harbor on J1 and taking over Hawaii? This would remove US from piling on Hawaii with airplanes on an airfield where they can scramble and fight in sea zone 26, gives Japan a +5 from NO and +1 from TT, US would no longer be one move away from Japan coming out of Hawaii with a naval base, and destroys the 2 infantry, fighter, tatical bomber, bomber, and cruiser (? can’t tell from the picture).

  • From a first view, id say that if you attack Hawai, you commit yourself to Hawai, it’s so close to the US that you will have to move Most of your fleet there to defend it thus preventing you from mounting a real attack on ANZAC or India. But could work.

    Are you in the US?

  • Hawaii would be dicey.
I was thinking maybe hit Phil J1 on your way to India. It would bring US in US1, but you can kill $42 worth of US units on Phil, get a NO bonus $5 (and US looses theirs) also set the stage to take the rest of the $ islands rd #2 (giving you NO bonuses and taking them away from the allies). You also push hard into Asia/China rd #! & #2. J3 destroy trapped UK fleet and 1-2 punch India. You’ll also be getting some NB along the way. With your back door closed now you can focus on a growing Anzac, and a monster USA.

You could skip hitting Phil on your way to India, but those air units will come back to haunt you!

  • Wild Bill, it’s not only the Phillippines you can take on J1, but you can also crush the UK BB+2 transports of the coast of Malaya with ease (3 bombers, 1 ftr will do the trick). Those two attacks alone make it worthwhile giving USA 35 IPC extra (40 IPC minus 5 from the NO).

  • Are you in the US?

    Yes, Pennsylvania

  • $67 = £42

I can’t understand why the cheapest I’ve seen it in the UK is £57 which is $96.

  • Come to think of it, I don’t think Japan can take Hawaii on J1 with at most a landing force of 3 infantry and 2 artillery.

On J1, Attacking Phillippines and destroying the destroyer, transport, 2 infantry, fighter, bomber and attacking sea zone 37 and destroying the battleship, and 2 transports seems to be the logical choices.

  • Yup, and you also attack Kwangtung, the Chinese and land your bombers + ftrs on Shan State so you have India locked up unable to buy fleet.

Doesnt work like that - overseas pricing is never matched 1 to 1 on a conversion rate basis.

Just try to feel fortunate its not £67, which more often than not is exactly what some retailers would do!

Im assuming your an ex-pat, right?  If so, maybe have someone from home buy it in the US and then ship it to you.

  • Doesnt work like that - overseas pricing is never matched 1 to 1 on a conversion rate basis.

True, but I was judging the price by the price for Anniversary (and other A&A) games. Anniversary was £50 over here, so I can’t see why it should be any more for Pacific.

No, my avatar (and name) may be deceptive - I’m a Brit.
