    Do I remember the rules right, that if I don’t attack your sub in sz19 I can conduct the Amphibious Assault regardless of a successful kamikaze? And that I couldn’t if your sub was attacked? If both is true I don’t wanna attack your sub and need your kamkaze decision.

  • I think the kamikaze creates a battle - just like it can prevent a shore bombardment. What I’m not sure about is the order of the process if the kamikazes sink the destroy. Does the ignoring the sub happen 1st, thus allowing the unloading; or can the SZ no longer be cleared.

    I have tried in local mode now;

    • Kamikaze option is given also when not attacking the sub, but if successful landing is still conducted.

    • In case I attacked the sub but kamikaze is successful the transport will face the sub and can only retreat.

    Is this all according the rules?


  • Looks like I can call in a kamikaze strike even without a bombardment. Want to change that move?

    If an Allied player attacks Japanese units in or declares an
    amphibious assault from one of these sea zones, the Japanese
    player can announce at the beginning of this phase that he or
    she intends to launch one or more kamikaze strikes in that sea
    zone. They are resolved before any combat begins.

    You guys are mostly right

    The intention of amphibious assault with a destroyer accompanying means a kamikaze strike may be launched at the destroyer (the destroyer is part of the combat move)

    If the destroyer is hit by kamikaze, the amphibious assault still takes place and the sub is NOT A FACTOR

    The ignoring sub thing is for COMBAT MOVEMENT ONLY,
    The sub cannot fight in the combat phase because it has been effectively ignored.

    Kamikaze can only sink the destroyer, it does not bring the sub into the battle, and it cannot possibly stop the amphibious landing.
