@JDOW also would you mind if I read your input on youtube?

Hi everyone, just checking up on things. I have some good news! My friends and I are planning on trying to organize another tournament between us, same group as before, but they are now teaching their friend who lives farther away to play Axis and Allies! The game is expanding and I hope this ripple effect can continue. We are the new generation of Axis and Allies player and I am so excited to see how something that just started as my dad coming back to a game he had years ago to teach me has spread into something great that I can share!

Awesome!

Some crazy thoughts:
-
Do you sometimes buy R1 a sub or destroyer to convoy germany or liberate sz125? I think de 6 or 8 IPC can be earned back quickly?
-
Do you sometimes take greece on UK1 when doing taranto so the UK fighters on the carrier have a place to land and to force germany to send troops South to attack greece and thus buying time for russia?
-
-
I try to maximize defense of Russia. An extra two infantry can dramatically change the odds. Or a few art instead of inf can make it hard for Germany to stand toe-to-toe with the Moscow stack.
I don’t take Greece unless Germany lost many planes on G1
-
Taking Greece is considered capturing it, so the fighters in sea zone 97 cannot land there on the same turn.
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato i ment when on G2 Germany sends its luftwaffe on the UK fleet
-
@Arthur-Bomber-Harris me neither but when bought on R1 that sub can reduce the number of german troops at the doors of moscow by turn 6 perhaps?
-
I understand now. Not sure where those fighters can go or what they would do. Same with strategic bombers, they can’t reach anywhere unreachable. There’s not much reason to base aircraft there.
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato if you don´t have greece you can´t tip your carrier bc the UK planes on them (after the taranto raid when italy doesn´t scramble) can´t land anymore.
I have never done it, landing in greece, but maybe players have? -
As I said, if you do a Taranto on turn 1, taking Greece doesn’t matter since aircraft cannot land there the same turn it is taken over (since its considered being captured).
Unless you want a Taranto on turn 2? Never tried that before.
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato you don´t understand me.
What happens now is UK1 you do taranto and when italy doesn´t scramble you end up with a loaded carrier.
On G2 the luftwaffe attacks that fleet and bc you have no landing space you can´t take the carrier as casualties.
If you take greece on UK1 then on G2 you do have a landing space. -
Oh! Okay, I understand now.
But then why doesn’t the Luftwaffe just continue pressing the attack and destroy the aircraft as well? If they attacked they probably would be strong enough to shoot down the aircraft, and the ability to land in Greece would be no secret.

I like crazy thoughts. And encourage it. Though when ABH talks…people (better) listen! EF Hutton commercial from the 80s. Wargame it. See if a 50-60 ipc allied bid can make that work. Then do a youtube video on it!

@SuperbattleshipYamato they probably will but it might give you a second round of combat with unit(s) defending on a 4 in stead of a 2.
-
I understand now. It makes sense. Hope it works!

Hey I’ve been thinking up a Chinese strategy that I’m going to try out because it seems fun and just wondering what your guys thoughts are and if you have any tips on making it better
So basically the idea is that Russia buys 3 AA guns and places them in Stalingrad and proceeds to march them into china, then Japan does it’s thing and china retreats it’s forces until they meet up with the AA guns after witch china will start taking back the Burma road after they take territory Russia will move into the territory to defend against japans Air Force -
@colonel-ace AAA guns are always welcome in China, but what I have a hard time buying is China taking back the road after retreating. If they simply retreat, that means Japan has lost few if any land units, and China will have no more than 3 artillery with which to attack an intact stack of Japanese land units which may or may not have 8+ planes stacked on top, depending on when they took the territory. China does better on defense than offense, and if the strategy is to retreat and take back land, I fear that China is doomed. The benefit of those 3 guns will be vastly outweighed by a large Japanese land army.
Enough doom and gloom. I agree with you that you want AAA in China, but the quickest way to do that is to send a gun or so up from India (unless Japan is going Calcutta Crush). As Russia, if you really want to help, send in a few fast movers like mechanized inf. to aid in a multinational stack, preferably in Yunnan if you can manage it. Buying and sending slow AAA from Russia will be too little too late, especially if China has done nothing but retreat.
-
I completely agree. Especially since there’s that 1 turn delay since the Soviets had to buy those units first. Much better to just send units that start the game close to China and use those 15 IPCs (5 infantry!) to defend in Europe.
-
@Tamer-of-Beasts that makes a lot of sense I came up with this strategy to work with middle earth I’m starting to see now that sending AA guns from Russia isn’t the best idea but I still want to make Japan focus on military so America can come in to prevent Japan from having the money islands what is the best way to do that
-
Keep the Soviet forces in the Far East. On turn 1 stack them at Amur (that’ll suck up a lot of Japanese resources) and if they don’t attack, push into Korea or Manchuria next turn. It’s going to be quite hard for Japan to hold them off and do all the other fighting against the Western powers they need to do. Send Soviet units further in the east (particularly the tank and mechanized infantry from Stalingrad) into China, have the British in India build up a large land army and have it move through Yunnan to take on the Japanese army, and try to keep the Burma Road open. This can pose a real threat.
Keep in mind all of this might make it easier, maybe too easy, for Germany to capture Moscow, so plan accordingly.
