So you want a bigger bonus for liberating France? Got it.
I wouldn’t say a bigger one off bonus but a removal of the ongoing penalty for trading paris.
I suppose you can argue that the allies can’t trade London or India oob but this weakness is already resolved in bm so the next thing to fix is the Paris problem.
What’s BM?
Balanced Mod.
Thank you!
Am considering a version 2 of this game, with 5 changes
Any comments?
edit: added the second then third change
I can now announce version 2 of the French Rebalance (renamed from Parisian Rebalance)
I would think it likely now that Vichy is activated by the Axis nearly always but UK fights them for it.
Good ideas. How do they affect the game in practice? What goals or behavior do they change?
@SuperbattleshipYamato That remains to be seen but what I expect is more fighting especially early.Rather than thinking of trying to claim islands and build objective income, Axis players will be going all out for Vichy while Allies will want to stop it. Only place where fighting will reduce is SZ62 which is a bit of an annoyance to me, so much riding on dice in a J1, especially if there wasn’t a New Guinea inf bid. Later there will be more fighting over Paris. USA can walk in one round then back to Normandy next round and then activate Normandy over again. They would lose one or more rounds of production out of the Normandy factory but not forever. Also, more fighting in China to make sure you retake the Burma Rd every round. Pressure to do that seems eased in BM.
At one time Balanced Mod saw axis bids but now they’re often over 20. So perhaps something like that will happen here. Or maybe bids will trend the other way? I’m not sure to be honest but I feel these changes make the game more than a little better.
Nice. I might take them out for a spin one day (note to self).
I am already thinking that UK are too strong against Italy. I’m thinking of two changes.
Anyone have any comments based on what is on paper? The ease with which Britain can activate North and West Africa from France is so high it seems that they will become unstoppable, providing a Middle East IC is placed UK2.
One more thing, the rule for mechs and tanks activating French territories, should it happen when you pass through the territory? In a game I have going now, I’ve landed a Mech on Algeria and it will want to attack Libya next round. Such an attack should be legal. What happens when you pass through Tunisia? Easiest option is to just allow it to be activated which is not consistent with what happens with Friendly Neutrals. Otherwise, I’m strongly inclined to allow that.
