We played our weekly saturday axis and allies game today and it had some interesting results.  It was a game with a lot of experimental moves, some of which worked much better than others.

I know that people on this forum do not exactly agree about the G1 AC purchase, but I tried it out for fun.  My friends tried to persuade me to buy 1AC & 1BB but I declined.  My japanese ally tried placing an IC in borneo and threatening the indian ocean etc (Australia, India, Africa), but the US and UK forces managed to distract him from doing anything effective with it.  Not a strategy that we will repeat.

However, I have to say that I was impressed by the usefulness of the G1 AC purchase.   An aircraft carrier on its own isn’t fantastic, but the fact that you can place two fighters on the AC helps a lot.  I bombed Britain on the first turn with my bomber, just to slow Britain down a bit more, then focussed on Russia as much as possible.  However, I had also wasted money on a bomber on G1 (1AC, 1 Bom, 3 inf) so Russia made some very fast progress on the Eastern front.

Next game, I will not buy a bomber on G1, but I will buy an AC and maybe a transport.  I love it.  The fighters are excellent defenders, and they can also threaten the UK if they try to invade norway or karelia / archangel.

i personally like this move but many players on the forum will disagree.
against an expert player you can buy Baltic AC but u need to know how to play with that navy

It is an out-of-the-box idea.  I’d try to incorperate it into a Battle for Britian plan.

It goes along with teh special mid-battle retreat that FIGs can do, and also the fact that they can NOT remain in a combat zone after a batle (except by landign on an AC after a naval battle).

You HAVE to be able to MOVE in NCM to land in every type of battle EXCEPT a Naval Battle, and then you can ONLY stay there if you WIN.

He leaves minimal men in W.Europe and S. Europe because he has overwhelming force the next turn to get it back so he realisticly don’t lose money. Me and my bro tried to land UK in Western E/ than fly 6 fighters(U.S) and some of their ground units to stop Germany from retaking it.

Then I feel it is quite feasible to beat your uncle if all he does is build mainly tanks + 1 fighter here and there. What you’re going to want to do is take out his navy and take Norway with the UK on the first round, provided he doesn’t have his fighters within range to kill your navy. After Norway is taken, just keep landing as much as you can in W. Europe. This will take the pressure off of Russia in a jiffy. He can’t use his 8 tanks per turn both to take W. Europe back as well as invade Russia. At first the landings may seem ineffectual since it’s just the UK, but after a few turns the landings grow substantial because of the US, and it should no longer be economical for him to retake W. Europe. After that, S. Europe falls, and things collapse for the Germans.

If you can’t land in W. Europe, then just take it slow and mass troops in Karelia to protect the Russian’s northern flank until the US comes. A joint defense of Russia and UK together should be more than enough to stop the Germans from taking Moscow. Once you’re ready then march towards Germany with masses of troops.
