I thought you were going to land an ANZAC fighter in NW Persia, kind of like you did earlier in the game… I would have saved Persia for a turn, at least.
I could have sent 2 U.S. fighters from Egypt to Persia, but you still had the numbers, with mech to take hits. UK rolled far below average in Persia.
Finally got AA hits. Almost made up for prior AA misses.
In first round, you built art for Germ, which I also normally do. And I built mostly art for Russ. But then I switched to almost all infantry after that, while you built mech. Yet you still had enough offense to push me back, despite my large army. Defense made me inflexible. I didn’t have mobile units or enough art for offense, to threaten your southern turn.
You’ve done an excellent job of getting the N.O.'s and denying me the N.O.'s. So despite Moscow and Asian Russ, and China still largely unconquered, you have more income than I do. Japan has positioned itself to threaten multiple targets simultaneously, while defending DEI.
@OwenToo I mis-interpreted your post, thinking you were talking about defending, not blocking. I was so focused on ANZ planes defending Yunnan, India and Shan, that I overlooked using an ANZ fighter as a blocker for Iraq. Too bad, but would just have postponed the inevitable.

I need OOL for the Shan State battle. Your AA killed 2 fighters, and my shore bombard got three hits. Specifically, should I kill your bombers, or save them for later. My original odds were 98% success rate, but it may be less now that your AA did well.

It was tedious trying to calculate odds for India, Shan and Yunnan. With so many potential attackers from different locations. I thought Shan would be the most likely. India was too far away to send your fleet, and limited troops, so -TUV. Yunnan was also too few troops, thus negative TUV. I should have abandoned Shan and moved into Yunnan. Since I could have counterattacked from Yunnan and your planes couldn’t land in Shan for defense.
Well, you rolled extremely well, so I was hurt far more by the Shan battle than you. You also did well in Russia. Very good Russian move.
If I had put the 2 ANZ fighters in Shan instead of Yunnan, it might have been a draw.

All 3 potential targets had far more troops than you did, so any one of them would have cost you a sizable number of planes. I had intended to build 3 mech in India, but went for defense with 4 units, but less mobility.
Well, there it is. I was supposed to have a +30 TUV for the Shan battle, and I had a -37. That could tip the game, for sure.
I need every break I can get. U.S. needs to build planes for Europe/Mideast this turn. So this was fortuitous not to have to build much in W. Coast. But UKPac lost its offense and mobility and Germany is nearby.
A bomber is only 1 point less defense than an infantry. And I only had 2 bombers. So I didn’t go max defense. I looked at the die roll history. Wouldn’t you know it, on round 2, one of the bombers rolled a 2. Which would have been another hit inflicted on you, if I had gone completely max defense. Building a factory and airbase in Hong Kong turned out well for you. Your blockers prevent the U.S. from DEI and Phil and new transports can retake what ANZ invades.
Well, all those Japanese Hong Kong builds were reactions to your very aggressive early USA and UK-Pacific moves, just trying to cope with the threats, and survive the position. Normally would have built factories in Malaya and French Indo-China.
After the Shan battle I now have 6-7 fewer fighters than on average I would have kept, so I think you did OK on the battle. But yes, the bombers were toast no matter what, so they should have been taken first.
