    I mean I realize that sometimes a desperate attack needs to be done because that might the only shot - but those upsets do really hurt.

    Sorry but I still can’t really get over it.

    You weren’t in such a desperate position, that “assault” on UK was ridiculous and not dangerous. In 72% of the cases this attack would hurt you soooo much and would almost seal your loss, cause you wouldn’t have any planes left while being convoyed and not able to push back so easily and my carrier and battleship could afterwards heal at the naval base at normandy or west germany (being protected by newbuilt warships).
    I simply don’t understand why you would be willing to risk an even game for a 28% chance of destroying the German fleet (which, sure, hurts a lot, but doesn’t mean gg either).

    My reasoning was this.  1- I wasn’t likely to get a shot at the German fleet of any sort any time soon.  So better to do it now and fail than to wait until turn 19 or w/e.  I mean, seriously, have you looked at my game with BSD?  Taking ages.

    2 - Even if I did fail, I’d at least have the US fleet to mop up, or more likely force you back into the hole again.  The fact that the US fleet did so much better than expected against Italy cemented that aspect of it.

    I genuinely did not see the attack as a desperation move. It was a calculated risk.  I expected to lose, but damage your fleet enough in the process to force you to pull back, and also, the calculator indicated that I prob wouldn’t lose by much in terms of unit value anyway.  If it went badly in round one, I retreat.  No biggie.

    And while we’re talking strategy, why didn’t you move the Germans up to Bryansk in force earlier? My Russian stack was down in Rostov because I was so focused on protecting the ME that I completely left Russia itself wide open.

    Hm, I never even considered going into Bryansk.

    I don’t think I’ll be able to get Moscow for another 2-3 turns. That’s why I had my eyes on the Caucasus und Stalingrad.
    But yeah, nailing you into moscow without you being able to do anything could have been a good idea too
