G39 OLD MAP vs NEW MAP

Has a few ideas I used for this exact issue. I’ve changed a few things since with the chips colours. It was a bit overwhelming at first.

Though over time I’ve started to buy or make some pieces to replace these chips from hbg. Occasionally they are out of stock on some stuff.  Some we used often and others we didn’t bother with. Torpedo boat destroyers for example were not worth it for us we just switched to destroyers for these at setup. For now….

HBG says you can play with global40 oob pieces. But a few items are nice to have extra.

Found it way cheaper to buy some units from hbg. The pieces from Pacific or Europe 40. Some are sold in a complete bag for a nation uk and usa most likely in stock. And spray paint any extra colours you want. Dutch orange, yellow comunist china and spain to augment the special units in the same colours i bought.

If money isn’t an issue I’d say call or email the folks at HBG and get everything you need there. They know their stuff and can assist you with the pieces and options required. Have had lots of communication with them. They are very good at getting back to you and assisting with your orders!

Concur. The game from reading is awesome and watching g folks on YouTube. My first foray on it should be this upcoming weekend or so. (Have to finish some door hanging and remodeling first.)

I have a few questions that I am compiling. I have things I think I can assume but will look for clarification on what others think. Minor things.

I agree with your point Narvik.  You think the designers have a reasonable chance to consider that revision?

You can blast the UK navy out of the water by end of Germany’s first turn and effectively blockade them. I’d turn my land forces’ attention, as I mentioned to france , Poland, Holland, Denmark, etc. Going for Yugoslavia and at least Narvik on impulse 2 is a good idea too. These are nice juicy targets that get you some income and don’t pit you in a heavy pressure situation vis a visthe US.

This is just my opinion. Others may play it more aggressively, but again, your opponent’s nature and abilities play a big role in a decision like that.

Im happy to see more people getting into this game. I think 2014 is shaping up to be a huge year forgloab 39. There is no point in me hiding my excitement and impatience for the new map, expansions, pieces, markers, and rules.

I make a point of playing this variant once a month and find myself always wanting more of it. Hopefully, you’ll take a liking to it too.

The limit is one… and all parties can do it.

Of course it doesn’t help when the russians drop that in Moscow with a stack of 70+ units.  But, if Germany can do the same? What does it matter.
