Confirmed: NOT a joke, game will be released

  • @jim010:

And what about all the people that followed the links and read them before they were taken down?  And copied and pasted the info for us?  I suppose they  are all in on it too?

Pssstt… you’re not supposed to reveal that! Crap! I guess the cat is out of the bag…  LOL

  • The broken link spam really is funny lmao

So if i start a thread about say, axis and allies world war one which will be released next aug or so, then i post a fabricated link to a PDF that may or may not be an actual PDF from WOTC (most likely not lol), then a bunch a people talk about it for a while, the link dies…

    wait for it…

then next april someone reposts the broken link saying that this is a real game

people speculate whether or not its a joke…

BUT WAIT…IT WAS TALKED ABOUT LAST YEAR IT MUST BE TRUE…

    lmao

Whatever.  Go waste someone else’s time.

    You’re right, uncrustable.

Everybody but three people in the entire Axis and Allies community decided to go through this entire scheme of putting up links that someone found, then taking them down months before you even looked for it but having other people tell you they saw it, putting out a news release on April 2nd (but telling you about it on April 1) so that the rest of the world will know it’s not an April’s Fools joke, then paying techroll to come on here and agree with you so you’re not alone.

You’re a very important man to have thousands of people conspiring on a joke aimed at just one person.

    thousands huh…lol

    Your are dilusional :P

Im very sorry, but this is not true lol, youl eventualy get over it

  • '10

    Delusional :-D

I’ve laughed for 45 minutes over how a man who thinks an entire company is playing an April Fool’s joke on him can call someone else delusional.

    That’s good stuff.

Remember Crusty, just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t out to fool you. Don’t worry. When the game hits the shelves I’ll be here to remind how silly you made yourself look for a week.

Bad thing is that I’m sure that even after you’ve opened the box, set up the pieces and played a game of Axis and Allies 1941 that you’ll still say its WOTC playing a big joke on all of us.

  • Liaison TripleA '11 '10

lol just imagine if they cancel the game or it doesn’t get released now… lol.

  • The joke is that they’re basically releasing the same game again.

  • Liaison TripleA '11 '10

Yea but… can’t you say the same thing for EVERY version of Axis and Allies?  Save Guadalcanal or BOTB?

AA50 and G40 are both unique from the trend, atleast that is my opinion

I see that you get my point. It has been five years since they published a NEW game. They just keep churning out tweaks of the map and ruleset. If they just want to tweak the map and rules how about tweaking BOTB for some eastern front action?

You forgot to mention D-DAY as a unique game.

But I agree, it’s high time for a truly new game: Stalingrad, Kursk (that’s where the new Tiger miniatures would come in handy!), market garden. It seems to me there’s very little creativity within WoTC. Sad, really.

However, i might buy the new game for the new pieces, but I already passed on A&A 1942. The only game I might actually still buy along the same lines and be truly happy with it is A&A 1939. After all, that’s when the war started and not in '40,m '41 or '42.

  • @Imperious:

The PDF is a standard issue for Distributors and Retailers so they can get their orders in ( and which they need too months before product release).

They did this with AA50 and AA40.

    AA50?

I would like to see a North Africa version of the game, perhaps including the Med as well. Maybe have the Axis take Malta so they can get Rommel the proper supplies and reinforcements to kick Montgomery’s butt (ha ha). Heck, maybe the Italians could beat the Brits in the first place. They outnumbered them something like 4-1 or more. Yet the Brits kicked their butts something fierce. Seems like something wrong there to me.
Anyway, I have heard that Larry Harris has no intention of ever making a North Africa game so I guess I’m out of luck there. Would be cool to have more Italian involvement though.

As for malta, I feel it’s a shame Europe 40 or global '40 doesn’t include a National Objective for the Axis to control Malta and receive 5 IPC’s for it. That’d symbolize basically what you’re talking about. Not sure, it may be included in one of the NO’s saying : "control x of the ollowing, but I believe it would have deserved to be an NO in its own right.
