If it’s too late, I understand, but if you don’t mind, I’d like to move both destroyers into SZ 92. (Italian ones, of course.)

no problem on the italian boats…

just a thought or two on the german armor moving into buryatia. i knew that’s where you were going with them, but it seems to me that it creates an untenable political situation for the soviet union. i’m unclear whether this violates the spirit of the rules regarding japan-russo relations - though i am certain it does not violate the letter of the rules. there is certainly no restriction on german units moving into soviet territory. but hear me out and tell me what you think (and btw, we won’t change the movement for this game since it would penalize you for a nice strategic move)…
the soviet political situation is such that on the pacific side of the board the ussr is restricted from moving into china if not at war with japan. however, ussr is at war with germany - but is now restricted from fighting german units because they run through china into far eastern soviet territories. from a practical standpoint, if a country is at war with another, they ought to be able to pursue their enemy wherever they go. but in this case, they cannot, even though china is an allied country! that seems completely backwards.
further, the political situation rules restrict only the soviet union in this game - because they are the only power (potentially) at war on both sides of the map. it seems a move allowing their declared enemy to take advantage of these rule restrictions placed upon them is both unrealistic and punitive. now the ussr may not pursue their declared enemy into the territory of allied country! to me, that doesn’t make any sense.
on the other hand, kudos for the planning and fortitude to take advantage of the situation well within the rules.
what’s your thinking?

i’d like your thoughts on my previous post… meanwhile…

I talked, extensively, with a lot of people both here and at Harrisgamedesigns.com to make sure the move was legal. Here’s the catch (and the reason I suicided my boats north of Leningrad) as long as Germany takes the land, not Japan, Japan’s movement into Russian territories (bordering Mongolia) will NOT bring them into the war.
So basically, Russia may as well attack China, if you want too, because you are not getting the 6 Mongolian infantry. I wanted to test the feasibility of the move. It cost me a lot (transports, battleship, cruiser…) but the word is still out on the benefit. It might blow up in my face.
-
oh, i applaud the move - forward thinking. and i wasn’t suggesting it was “illegal” by any stretch - it clearly is not. what i question is whether it puts russia in an unfair position since germany can effectively “take shelter” from an enemy (russia) it is at war with within the boundaries of a country it has never declared war on (china), and which, in fact, is allied with its enemy.
fire away with the japs… whatever will you spend that pot of gold on?
-
Anyway, I dont think I need it, and it appears to take too long to really do much good. Â I mean, it’s round 2 before they can land in Russia, round 7 before they hit Amur?

I didn’t do it. Â It does feel cheezy, though, I am SOOOO doing it in my next league game!
Anyway, I dont think you ever were in position to hit the tanks, my Japanese were pretty close by, but yea. It’s definitely legal, and it most assuredly flies in the face of the non-aggression pact’s spirit!
