Regarding SZ 110, I got hosed one time on a UK scramble. Usually as Germany, I send 3 fighters, 3 Stukas, 1 bombers and sometimes 1 sub to SZ 110. Our UK player had gotten in the habit of not scrambling in order to save the RAF for future action.
Well, this one game I made the mistake of just assuming UK would not scramble. I sent 2 fighters, 2 Stukas and 1 bomber to SZ 110. The other fighter and Stuka I sent to kill the French fleet in SZ 93. Well, UK taught me a lesson. They scrambled and wiped out my planes. I didn’t even kill all the ships in the channel.
Never made that mistake again.

How do people keep it straight?
US fighters usually don’t end up in China before Japan kills the Chinese plane. if you can’t keep track of it, put a Chinese roundel under it.
-
That’s what I do - at setup, a Chinese symbol under it.
They should have made a unique flying tigers unit with the shark teeth on it!!!

Just wanted to clarify as there are two conflicting answers to this question:
Here is the scenerio U.S. want to invade German coastal territory A. The sea zone the U.S. is invading from is touching both territory A and territory B. Territory B has an airbase with fighters on it. Can Germany scramble fighters from territory B even though the attack is on territory A?
@calvinandhobbesliker:
Only planes from A can scramble unless the US is also invading B.(This is for Alpha + 0.1)
OOB - Yes.
Alpha+.1 - Only if there is a sea battle before the assault.Krieghund is right in this case. Here’s the explanation from Larry:
In situations where a sea zone is served by more than one airbase, Korea and Japan into sea zone 6 for example, each of the territories (or both in this case) can scramble up to 3 fighters and/or tactical bombers. On the other hand, if Korea is specifically being attacked by an amphibious force, and there is no sea battle occurring, only the aircraft in Korea can participate in the scramble.
To sum it up: If there is a sea battle, involving an amphibious assault or not, all neighboring aircraft that meet the scramble requirements can participate in the sea battle. If there is only an amphibious assault and there is no sea battle, only the territory be attacked from the sea can scramble up to 3 aircraft.

Couple questions:
First, a repost since I got a couple differet answers. Can Japan build an IC on mainland China, on Kiansu for example, and if so minor or major. Same basic question for other countries, can other build IC’s on land that is not theirs? USA on Russia for example. The rules seem to read no.
Second, SZ 6 has USA fleet in it surrounding Japan. A) Can I take planes off Japan, pass through SZ 6 to another to sink undefended transports, or do they enter battle in SZ 6. B) Can I bring planes from the mainland back to Japan, through SZ 6 on Non Combat Movement without a battle?
-
Japan can only build minors on Chinese territory, as can any nation on foreign tt.
A-You can fly over the ships in Z6
B-Yes
Planes in both combat move and noncombat move can treat hostile zones as friendly -
Quick question on amphibious assaults. UK enters sz 109 with trn dd fig. German sub is present. dd and fig miss. sub hits. does the trn retreat from the amphibious assault or is it destroyed by the sub. Thanks!

The transport can retreat(and should)

Thanks Calvin that’s how we played it. For future reference can the transport unload after it retreats from an attempted amphibious assault?

You may have gotten different answers because the answer is different depending on which rules you’re playing by. In the Alpha+.1 rules, Calvin’s answer above is correct. In the box rules, any power may build a minor IC on any territory worth 2 IPCs or more and a major IC on any territory worth 3 IPCs or more. So in your particular example, Japan can build either a minor or a major IC in Kiangsu under the box rules, but only a minor one under Alpha+.1 rules.

can i build an airbase and place 3 units in a territory with a minor ic?
-
can i build an airbase and place 3 units in a territory with a minor ic?
Yes. Airbases can be build without ICs, so they don’t count against production cap.

that’s what i figured, that will help me when we continue our current game!!

I have one doubt about the carrier:
a german submarine attack a carrier (UK) loaded with a fighter (UK).
the sub scores @2 with an “open fire” and the carrier scores @2, the carrier is crippled and enemy sub sunk.
The UK fighter is trapped on board and is like a cargo? If yes, when attacked by a surface ship (an italian cruiser for example), the fighter on the carrier can’t take off from it and the only the carrier can fire on Italian cruiser. Correct?
-
The fighter is defending in the air, so it will not be trapped. In fact, it will not be able to land and must find another landing spot within one space or be lost.
The only way that a plane can be trapped on a carrier is if the carrier is attacking and the plane belongs to an ally. Since it is not the ally’s turn, the plane remains on the carrier as cargo during the attack, and will be trapped if the carrier is damaged. In such a case, if the carrier is attacked while still damaged, the trapped plane will be unable to leave the ship, and thus unable to participate in the battle. It will be lost if the carrier is sunk.

Does Japan loose its national objective for collecting 10 IPC if it declares war on Russia? This is an Alpha+.1 question. Thanks for your help and merry xmas.
-
I don’t think so; there is a separate NO for that(+12 ipcs to Ruussia)
-
No, it doesn’t.

When Japan is not at War
1.Collect 10 IPCs each turn that Japan is not at war with the United States and has not invaded French Indo-China or made an unprovoked declaration of war against United Kingdom/ANZAC.“When Japan is not at war”… declaring war on anyone eliminates ‘being not at war’.
