    @calvinhobbesliker:

    If China controls Burma or Kwangtung(by liberating them after India falls), can it build infantry in them?

    If China liberates Kwangtng when India is Japanese and thus China takes control of it, would an IC in Kwangtung be destroyed?

    No to both, as Burma and Kwangtung are not Chinese territories.

    @Razor:

    Exactely how is that gonna work ? A political coup is part of the new technology ? I mean, you scramble a fighter screen, an no enemy ships can break through this screen and land on the island before every fighter is killed, nor can airborne units break through this screen and drop on the island before every defending fighter is killed, so the only way to take the island when the scrambling fighters are surviving, is a coup, right ?

    Let’s say, theoretically, that there are paratroopers in the global rules.  Then let’s say that an island has one infantry and one fighter on it, and that island is attacked by two paratroopers and an amphibious force escorted by a destroyer.  If the defender scrambles the fighter to fend off the amphibious assault and sinks the destroyer, forcing the transports to retreat, but then the paratroopers take the island by themselves, the scrambled fighter will be stranded.  Again, this is all theoretical.

  • If you SBR a naval base and the cumulative damage is 3 or more, can the naval base’s owner repair the base and use it to repair capital ships at the same time??

    If so, I’m struggling to see the value in bombing airbases and naval bases, when they have a max damage of 6, but are functional at 2 or less damage.  Basically, you have to endure AA fire and can only get a maximum of 4 damage.  :|

    But if you can’t repair a capital ship in the same phase you are repairing the base, then wow, it’s definitely worth it.  But I have a feeling the answer is yes, you can repair a naval base and then use it to repair all your carriers and battleships at the same time, making the bombing of the naval base rather pointless (Risking a 12 IPC bomber to AA fire to get a max of 4 damage)  :|

    Krieg?  And I’m curious - is this question adequately addressed in the rulebook that I do not own?  I’m just using the set of rules posted on the A&A homepage…

  • Official Q&A

    Yes, the damage can be repaired and capital ships can be repaired at the same time.  This is covered in the Rulebook.  The chief value in damaging bases is costing your opponent(s) money.  However, it could keep an opponent from repairing ships at an ally’s base if the timing were right.

    Yes, good point.  Not only could it keep them from repairing ships, but from getting the extra movement point on naval bases and airbases.
    Thanks for the answer.

  • Japan gets 5 ipcs each for controlling the following territories, right: Hawaii, India, and New South Wales

    i have seen conflicting info on aag40 power and turn order.

    is anzac still a full separate power?
    do they have their own economy, or is it combined with uk pacific command?
    do they have their own turn, or do they move with uk pacific command?

    thanks as always krieghund for your great work.

    This question should have probably been placed in the Europe 1940 board where discussion of the Global game is as well, but here’s the answer from Larry Harris:

    @johnnymarr:

    Per LH 1//11/10

    And the turn sequence for the Global game (combined AAP40 and AAE40) is:
    1. Germany
    2. Soviet Union
    3. Japan
    4. United Kingdom
    5. ANZAC
    6. Italy
    7. United States
    8. China
    and 9. France.

    ANZAC will be a full, separate power with its own turn different from the UK turn; and unless there are rules about specific pairings of the powers (like Revised had), UK and ANZAC will be able to be controlled by different players.

    thanks for the response sas. i posted here as there is no aa.org aag40 discussion board yet and krieg answers questions in this thread with high frequency.

    krieghund, i would still appreciate your answer to this question.

    Sorry, Allweneedislove, I didn’t answer because I figured a quote from Larry was sufficient.

    no need to appologize, maybe i did not trust larry because even larry relies on your answers.

  • Can the UK fly planes over Japanese territory when it’s not at war?

  • Official Q&A

    Yes, as long as they’re not originally Chinese.

  • @Krieghund:

    Yes, as long as they’re not originally Chinese.

    Well, then the answer might as well be no, since the UK has no need to fly over Siam or any island. The only useful one may be FIC

  • ANZAC NO says it is gained by ANZAC “occupying” an original Jap territory.  So can a player claim his 5 IPC’s by flying ANZAC aircraft onto the Carolines, or does “occupying” mean ground units only?

  • Official Q&A

    Air units count.

  • @Krieghund:

    Air units count.

    OK, thanks again.

  • Can planes on island be scrambled to defend sea units of another ally? eg. UK builds airbase on Borneo, ANZAC lands fighters there, Japan attacks US Destroyer off Borneo without attacking island itself. Can these ANZAC fighters participate in battle? Thanks.

    yes

  • if a sub and a transport make a combat move into a sz with a lone enemy sub, and the enemy sub submerges before battle, it still gets to shoot at the transport at a 2 instead of 1?  This seems true in the rules, but very counter-intuitive.

  • Official Q&A

    Yes, it’s true.  The defending sub’s shot occurs during the Combat Move phase, so it happens before the attacking sub actually attacks.
