    @Stefano1189:

I love your pictures, but i bought italian units and anzac and french dice in November 2010… today we are near to August… any news or i can think that my bucks are lost? Sorry for impatience, but 9 months are enough to be a little tired.

Yeah, I made the same pre-order that you did and am anxiously awaiting my new combat units and combat dice.  You just have to be patient a little longer.  Jeremy said that the factory told him production would be finished roughly end of the month.  When you take in the time to ship from China to FMG, then from FMG to all of us, count approximately another two weeks or so.  With any luck, we should all be very happy about mid-August.

Also, that comment "i can think that my bucks are lost?" is downright insulting.  Even if this project totally fell through, do you really think that FMG would simply keep our money?  Don’t you think that FMG would refund us on our orders?  FMG is an honorable company with excellent customer service.  What’s more, all the delays and failed deadlines are solely the fault of the Chinese factory they have to deal with.  The factory tells Jeremy one thing, then Jeremy clues us all in and when it doesn’t happen, everyone want’s to yell at Jeremy and FMG.  We all just need to chill out.  We all knew going into this that the Italians were going to be the hardest set because it was all new, to FMG, the sculptor, and the factory.  Just try to think about when the Italians are done.  Next will be the Germans which are already moving much faster.  After that the Americans.  The sets will start coming out like clockwork.

Well said, knp!  I’m busy planning my next gigantic A&A project in anticipation of the new arrivals.  FMG & HBG have started something we’ve all wanted for YEARS!!!  I’ve waited this long - just a few more weeks and we start seeing these pieces coming in…considering all the challenges, etc the quality is amazing.  WOTC should be outsourcing product development to FMG & HBG and maybe bring in their manufacturers and REALLY move some product!  :-D

You know, I am kind of surprised that WOTC didn’t come out with pieces with the same level of detail and accuracy.  I remember when I first got my copies of Revised, Europe, Pacific and D-Day in Summer 2006 (yeah, I was a little behind the times).  I was so excited to see these tiny pieces that actually represented the equipment used by the different countries in WW2 rather than the simple generic pieces we got from Milton Bradley.  Back then, I didn’t so much notice the lack of detail (compared to FMG’s and HBG’s pieces) but I was a little bummed out that only the Axis powers had all unique equipment.  The Allies all used the same artillery, transport, destroyer and submarine classes, which were actually USA classes.  Plus, poor Russia didn’t have ANY ships of their own because their battleships and carriers were British models.  At least with the 1942 game, Russia finally got their own BB, CA and DD.
Of course, then came games with Italy and they have the Italians using all German equipment, with Japanese bombers and artillery in the Anniversary game.
I just wonder what process WOTC went through in designing the game pieces.  Did they go through the same process as FMG?  First sculpt the pieces, make any corrections, pre-production molds and then into final production molds?  Or do you think they had some kind of simpler process?
Obviously, when they made Italy, they just used existing Axis molds and changed the color.  Couldn’t they get their original sculptor back to design real Italian units?  If not, how were they able to design the new Russian ships for the 1942 game?  It came out after Anniversary, didn’t it?  I just don’t understand how they could design such a great game with the Anniversary edition yet go all “slap-dash” on the pieces like they did.  As far as Italy is concerned, they still didn’t do well with Europe 1940, or France for that matter.  They couldn’t research French equipment either?
Anybody out there have any ideas as to why WOTC did things this way?

Because it was more cost effective I imagine… as in, saved them money.

  • wotc chimps >:(  :P

  • Like it or not the point of a major corporation like WOTC is to make oodles of money for thier executives and, to a lesser extent, their shareholders.  They do this by putting the bear minimum of money necessary into a product that will generate sales.  We should all thank our lucky stars that true fans like HBG and FMG are undertaking this enormous process.

  • I’m waiting to see what the Japanese get.  It seems that it’s hard to find Japanese pieces lout there.

  • what russian units are going to be chosen eh? so many its hard to chose, but i think a KV-1, or a kv-2. maby kv-1 and hbg does kv-2 as a special armor?

That is correct.  It was the most common US bomber in all theaters

  • FMG these pieces are awesome. Infantry looks great. Keep them coming.

  • Absolutely amazing FMG, these USA sculpts have me so excited it should be illegal.  Finish them as soon as possible so all of us can make you rich!

    That US Infantry looks great.
The bomber is really cool too.  I like the B-24.  Strange thing about the picture, in the side view I thought the wings looked too thin and long but in the front view, it looked perfect.  Weird optical illusion I guess.

The B-24 was the most common US bomber?  I thought there were more of the B-17, at least in Europe.

I forgot what model the Fighter and Tac Bomber for USA are.  Is it the Hellcat and Dauntless?

    TAC is a TBF AVENGER

    FIGHTER is a F6F HELLCAT

  • Hey Fmg or HBG will either one of you guys be selling these units individually by chance? I know we don’t have Italy yet but I know HBG sells units individually. Just curious. Thanks
