This looks awesome.
Just wish it wasn’t on Steam (seemed like a good idea a couple years ago, but the games get crappier and crappier).
-
steam sucks… whay cant games just have their own built in server list… like real games do from EA and Activision?
Gamespy, Ubisoft, Steam, etc are total garbage companies that offer cash to game companies to force them to stick their lame servers, requiring membership, and spaming on your email to occur.

Got this game for free a few weeks ago (Best Buy clerk didn’t charge me? :? ), I think, and couldn’t really play it until I signed up for broadband - I was leeching a horrible wireless connection.
Anyway, it plays pretty well, but can be a hard adjustment. It really makes you stop and think about what you are doing. You’ve got to take advantage of cover, try to fire from a stationary position, and work as a team to eliminate threats. The vehicles are probably the most realistic modelled I’ve ever seen. You really feel like you could climb into a real one and take off. The weapons are fantastic as well, and seem to fire somewhat like their authentic counterparts. My main critique here is that SMGs don’t fire nearly as accurate on the move at close range as they should (sometimes I completely miss people firing from the hip at 10-20 feet range, which is just stupid). Other than that, there is no zoom unless you have a scope or binocs, so you’ve got to really work on your aim. The maps are splendid, and offer good variety. Some are infantry only, some are tank/vehicle heavy (with a bit of infantry), and one of my favorites has almost all infantry except 1 tank and 1 transport for each side on a medium sized map. My biggest complaint about this game is how the infantry models move. In a game touting realism, the men move like they are made of silly putty. In fact, I couldn’t hop over a 2 foot fence, which is ridiculous.
It’s not Call of Duty fast paced action, but it’s a good realistic alternative that’s fun to play.

Somebody hit me up for a game some time… :-D

Check out the fall booster pack trailer. Looks pretty sweet.
-
I’ll have to check that out later. Didn’t know there was a booster pack, but heard about some mods that sounded nice. Although I’ve been bad and have not played this for over a month…(Company of Heroes, Savage, emulators, etc.)
-
I can’t tell what’s new.
It looks like a new map or two, plus a Bren gun carrier for the soviets?
-
I checked the details of the booster pack (it was available Nov. 1), and it’s more like their typical patch. Actually, it has a little bit more in it (it’s a fair sized patch with the content, just a lot of it you won’t notice) than usual, but they make it sound like it’s an add-on or something:
Danzig is back: a completely rebuilt and reconstructed version of the famous mod map, with greatly enhanced graphics and gameplay
*
The much-requested Panzer IV H
*
The Universal Carrier
*
Support for the Logitech G15 keyboard
*
ROTV game spectating and “shoutcasting” functionality added
*
Engine enhancements to give much greater view distances
*
New skins for many tanksThere are a load more tweaks and fixes listed in the full log - so go and take a look!
I’m going to download it tonight and try it out.

Ok, I got to play the new map, Danzig. It was nice, but damn I’m rusty. Actually, didn’t too bad but everything felt fairly foreign.
It’s a small-medium sized map. Street fighting (no vehicles). The Axis defend 4 points, with the first 2 (bridge crossings in parallel - pretty cool) being uncappable once the Russkies take them. The last two are staggered in position, and can be captured & recaptured by either team. High intensity game.
Seems to run a bit better as well, but that’s all I saw for now. Going to try to get a game with the Russian APC!

Red Orchestra is going to be free again for this weekend. Time to preload. I cant wait to use the T-34/85 again. :-D
-
I saw that, but haven’t been playing much the past couple months…maybe more. Playing a game called Savage that is free and pretty fun.
