Scramble or submerge?
Oh man, what silly mistakes.
I obviously wanted to block you from Hawaii with 1 destroyer and retreat the rest to the US westcoast….
Additionally, I miscounted the movement cost from FIC to the SZ off India… I thought you’re not able to attack with the planes there.
Gonna concede now. With these mistakes, Japan is diverting too much US IPC.

OK, well in return for the Sea Lion low luck re-roll I’m happy to let you change your UK build and block with a US destroyer. But even with that, I think this game is starting to get out of reach for you now. I think you may have had a fighting chance as recently as just before opening up your US navy for slaughter by flying your planes out of the Philippines (I would have been favoured to win but you could have cost me a lot). Since then, Japan has been able to start getting back on its feet, which as you say will be too much of a distraction for the US. Also would have been interesting to see what would have happened if you would have let me do Sea Lion without throwing away the entire UK navy and had started to build up the US east cost earlier: a one-two punch with the UK-US navies on Gibraltar once ready would have been pretty tough to prevent and would have diverted a lot of my resources away from Barbarrosa.
Let me know if you want to keep going as the offer is still open, but I understand if you want to concede.
OK, well in return for the Sea Lion low luck re-roll I’m happy to let you change your UK build and block with a US destroyer.
Thx for that offer, I really appreciate it.
Whatever the outcome is, I’d really like to play a second game against you.
After that sealion I was super optimistic to win the game. I have to admit, I totally underestimated the impact that Italy can have. I also have never ever experienced, that Germany builds Navy only to make the arms war with USA.
I agree, that it’s looking very good for you, now. Nevertheless, I’d like to see how the game pans out.
I’ll buy 6 Infantry with UK-Pac. It will be the simplest way, if you’d just edit this and the US destroyer-blocker (the rest of the Hawaii ships move back to the US westcoast) and repeat your Japanese move.

OK no problem, glad to extend the offer in return. I’m in a similar frame of mind as you were when you offered me the re-roll: super optimistic as you say, so hopefullly this doesn’t come back to bite me as well!
I agree that it would be nice to have a rematch after this one is done, as this match has been extremely engaging and enjoyable. That being said, my wife has been ready to kill me over the last few weeks as I have spending a LOT of time on this. I think that’s the main reason why I’m in the winning position now to be honest: I don’t seem to have the ability to do quick moves in this game, and I spend a LOT of time thinking through each move, which is why I can’t handle more than one game at once. I mean, I think I spent over 6 hours on my Japan move a few rounds ago! I noticed that you play a lot more games than me, which obviously means less attention to each one. So overall I’m guessing that you might be a better player than me if you dedicated the same time to each game. I mean, I’ve more or less been able to capitalize on little mistakes you’ve made (totally understandable when you’re playing many games) here and there to gain my overall advantage, like you letting me get Australia and Hawaii back to back and miscalculating the value of the Romanian factory. This game has also brought new experiences for me - like the arms race, as you say. I think my main mistake in this game was overextending myself with Japan. I pretty much stuck with my standard playbook with Japan, which obviously doesn’t work if the Allies invest everything with the US in the Pacific over the first few rounds. I should have hunkered down off of Japan, will learn from that next time. As for Sea Lion, I know it cost me a lot to do it, and I know a lot of people say that it’s not worth the investment by the Axis, but I’m a little skeptical about your opening move to be honest, because it allowed me to grab Egypt, with a factory, almost right off the bat plus take out the UK. I think I read somewhere that you’ve had decent success against others by giving up the UK early, so maybe I should stand corrected. Maybe, as mentioned, if you preserved the UK navy and invested in the Atlantic earlier with the US it could have been different. I’m sure we will both tweak our strategies in the rematch!
As for timeline, I don’t think I’ll have much time for this game until at least Thursday night. Then I should be moving regularly again. After this game is done, I’m planning to take a break from A&A for at least a few weeks (tons of work and personal stuff to do), but I’m happy to reserve my next game for a rematch with you - most likely in late December or early January.
My UK1 wasn’t the best, I agree.
Since we started this game, my UK opening has changed quite a bit. I am now delaying the Egypt factory in case I have bad dice or Germany pushes Egypt heavily with airforce or if Germany attempts Sealion.
Instead, I invest some money UK1 into 2-3 units in South Africa.
If there is no sealion, I nowadays usually build Persia/Iraq factories. Egypt factory only, if it is save.
I still think your sealion attempt with Germany was very weak. But I didn’t answer properly either, so it paid off for you.
Sounds like a more cautious opening with the UK which is probably good. That’s always the difficulty with the UK I find - you want to be ambitious but you get Sea Lion’d if you try anything. I do recall thinking that I could have been slightly better positioned for Sea Lion, so you’re probably right. I wasn’t really planning for it, then suddenly realized you had left me an opening so I went all out on it. Plus, I remember thinking that you left me no other choice but to do Sea Lion, considering that if I didn’t do it you would wipe out the Italian navy next move with minimal losses! You really had me on the ropes in the Med with that first UK move, do you normally do that but without the Egypt minor now?
you want to be ambitious but you get Sea Lion’d if you try anything.
Getting Sealion’d is not such a big problem, as long as you know how to properly answer. Had I not build the 2 factories in Egypt and Romania, I would have won that game probably.
do you normally do that but without the Egypt minor now?
Yes
What sea zone do you want your destroyer blocker in? (for whenever I get to this)
take the one, that’s closer to Hawaii
