@panther Thanks! I’ll look around to see if there are active players and strategy guides.
A&A 1914 Triplea
-
Veqryn, any thought on adapting Triplea to play 1914 when it comes out? We already know some details such as how combat works.
-
Yes, I’d like to do it.
I will need the following:
1. a scan of the official rulebook (prefer higher quality & color) [this is needed so that i can code the engine rules]
2. a quality scan or picture of the entire map
3. a volunteer who can trace the territory border lines of that picture onto a computer image -

I imagine that it will be tough to create the new battle rules. This will probably take longer to create than the 1940 games did.
-
that scan is not good enough to make a map out of
-
Really? It doesn’t even fit on my screen- How big does the scan need to be?
-
oh, i didn’t realize you could click on it to make it bigger
nevermind, that is alright map

can someone trace the territories borders?
-
…
can someone trace the territories borders? Please explain what you mean. Is it something like painting lines over the borders? On a separate layer?
What exactly has do be done? -
There are multiple ways to do it.
I think a paint program like Paint.NET or photoshop or something, you could create a second layer and draw the territory borders on top of it.
But the end result should look something like the attachment I added below.
It doesn’t have to be colored, but the Border lines must be pure Black.
Anti-aliasing should be turned off. In other words, it should be pixelly, (no fuzzy lines). The territory borders should be 1 pixel thick.
-
OK, I experimented a bit using Paint.NET starting with the SZ borders. The Line/Curve Utility helps a lot there.
But how accurate does it have to be? I mean the SZ borders are really easy - but the territory borders …
:? -
depends on how good you want it to look
whatever you do, try to keep the same style all the way through
-
Will it be difficult for you to program the ‘contested territory’ rules?
-
i dunno, i haven’t read the rulebook yet
but i won’t start on anything until the basetile image is finished first by someone else

If yes, I will continue my work on it, unless someone more experienced throws his hat in.
But it will take me some time. Spare time is rare … -
yes
the final product should look like the attachment i added in an earlier post (it was the territory borders for ww2v3 [aa50])
-
It is easier than I thought. I think I will have that ready within the next few days.

How is it coming along?
