@coachofmany:
I can’t wait for my pre-ordered Japanese sets! I just bought a couple of orange sets of the first edition to add to my pre-ordered sets I got a bit ago. Those were great!
As soon as we get some more info on the UK set I’m going to be getting a few.I’ll miss the Swordfish, I must admit, however some surplus 1914 fighters and tan Testors enamel may satisfy my needs LOL.
The swordfish will be in the second UK set. we felt the need to replace it will other needed items.
Okay thanks Coach! I love the Swordfish but I’m willing to wait.

Where can I find a list of pieces that are going to be in the UK set?

I’ve seen that I was hoping for a full list of what’s going to be in the set

They are all listed if you click on the empty boxes under the image gallery button.

Thanks Pac War! I thought the only images were ones you could see. I’m so in for these UK units!

Sounds great to me!

I feel that the mechanized pieces are too small. I don’t know how others feel about it, but I would have liked them a bit bigger. Maybe on the next sets?

I don’t think they’re bad. they are slightly smaller, but considering you will probably have other types of custom units in the same tight game space that slight difference leaves more room.

I don’t understand the decision to go away from an already-established special forces pose. The US, German, and Japanese units are standing static and helmeted. In contrast, the UK unit is starting forward, with a beret, and visually has more in common with the early war German/Axis infantry

Just checking out the UK Supplement set lineup. I noticed there is no Truck or Transport plane. However, since there seems to be 11 sculpts and most sets have 13-14, does that mean you simply haven’t completed the UK lineup? I hope so because I would really like UK to have trucks and transport planes too.

Coach,
Have you guys ever considered selling sets by class of unit?
Like selling a light tank bundle that has a few light tanks for each nation player in the game?
I think it would be pretty cool even though I already have ordered several sets just to do this.

I asked about this about a year ago. They said no

Thanks Yavid.

Besides which, they don’t have some of these units for all the nations yet.
For example, you mentioned a Light Tank set. At present, they only have light tanks for the US (Stuart), Russia (T-26) and Germany (Panzer II and Panzer 38t). Oh, and they will have some for Japan (Type 95) once the Expansion set gets here. For now, there is none for Britain, France or Italy. I suppose ANZAC could use British sculpts.
Well, I guess the Allied Supplement sets do come in UK Tan, ANZAC grey and France blue, plus the Axis Minors sets come in Italy brown so technically you could have light tanks for all nations. They would just be US and German equipment.Perhaps in a couple of years or so when all the nations have supplement and expansion sets, HBG will think differently about those kind of sets.

These are some cool ideas! I did consider the Operation Olympic idea before, but just haven’t had time for an undertaking like that yet. The alternate history Cold War scenario sounds very interesting to me. Too many ideas, too little time! :-D
I was thinking about the Operation Olympic game idea earlier and I remember reading that Russia had similar plans to invade the northern most island. So the game would have 3 players and kind of an Amerika feel to it. With Japan playing the part of USA in the game.

Back in 1993 after I bought my first copy of Axis and Allies I opened it up and thought how cool would it be if the tanks, planes, est. looked like how they really did instead of generic pieces. I want to thank WotC and Larry for making that happen.
In 1999 when I got Axis and Allies: Europe I thought how much better it would have been if instead of stukas germany got bf-109s. I want to thank WotC and Larry for making that happen. I also thought how much better if Russia and UK got it’s own artillery and ships. again thank WotC and Larry for making it happen.
From 1993 till Axis and Allies was bought by WotC there was alot of expansions that could be bought for the game. I got cardboard Tigers, trucks, P-51s, Marines, Paratroops, artillery, destroyers, cruisers, destroyer escorts. With every expansion and every cardboard game piece I thought to myself damn I wish I got little plastic pieces for this things. I would like to thank WotC, Larry and HBG for making that happen.
In 1996 I got the Table Tactics expansion Central Powers. And dreamed of a day there was a real Axis and Allies World War I game. Thank you Larry for making it happen.
Lastly thanks for all the fond memories of playing this game.
Oh and lastly I have always wanted a Kaytusha piece. Thank you HBG for making that one and every other one you made happen not just for me but for everyone else who had some piece of WW2 equipment they wanted to see as a Axis and Allies piece.
Keep up the good work.

I echo this sentiment. As someone who remembers the lean early years in which just about the only way to expand the OOB sculpts was to buy the multi-coloured clones from Xeno Games, I agree that the contrast between then and now could not be more dramatic. Not only have the OOB pieces themselves made great leaps forward (more nations; colour diversification and standardization; more unit types; unit type variant sculpts in A&A 1941; a WWI game), but we also have more supplementary pieces on the market, most notably from HBG’s ever-expanding range. Definitely one of those cases in which the “good old days” are really just the “old days”, with the “good” part being in the present rather than in the past.
