Given the choice, I’d prefer to represent Germany with prussian blue.

I’m personally very fond of blue as a colour, but I think it would be problematic in A&A for a number of reasons.  First: blue pieces for Germany would cause confusion with the blue French pieces that were introduced in Europe 1940.  Prussian blue in particular is a shade which is a fairly close match for the French one used in E40.  Second: although the connections aren’t perfect or systematic, some of the sculpt colours used in A&A relate in some way to the uniforms or flags or equipment of the countries for which they are used – consider for instance the US Army’s fondness for painting things green.  Blue isn’t a colour I recall being greatly used by Nazi Germany or the Wehrmacht (except possibly the Luftwaffe).  Third: if the suggestion of Prussian blue is intended to relate to the state of Prussia (and perhaps to Prussia’s blue-enameled Pour Le Merite order, a.k.a. the Blue Max), this idea would clash with the fact that the separate German states (including Prussia) were effectively abolished in the early years of the Nazi government.  An added factor is that Hitler despised the Prussian military aristocracy; the feeling was mutual, so it could be argued that Prussian blue would, if anything, be a suitable colour for depicting anti-Nazi officers like von Staufenberg.

    Hi,

Don’t really want to get into an argument about it, as it’s just a preference of mine - I’d like to buy units that color. That said, prussian blue is a shade quite visually distinct from the basic blue used for the OOB French pieces. Prussian blue is usually depicted with less tone and saturation than navy blue, for comparison.

As for blackshirts or wermacht greys, those are no more important to me than dunkelblau, or modern drabs. I’d like player-color variants that could integrate with a game that falls outside the years 1939-1945.

I agree that within the context of the way many people seem to play the game, that prussian blue german pieces could also be used as factional rebels. I’ve thought a lot about employing a simple “influence” purchase system with which players could purchase rebel proxies

    Here’s a question:
If the blue OOB French pieces are De Gaul’s, but HGB and others speak of light blue as being for Free French… what color is the Vichy Armée de l’Armistice and colonial sympathizers? One of HGB’s Axis Minor colors?

I think the Condor is in production state, hope it comes soon man

That would be very nice… I looked at the photo HBG has up under “In production” for the German set and did notice the four engined aircraft. However, the tail assembly does not match up to the Condor’s. The Condor has an typical single vertical rudder and two elevators, while the picture showed something more like a B-24 or Lancaster tail assembly. Maybe that isn’t the actual production sculpt though, because they did throw out the disclaimer that the designs weren’t necessarily final.

I believe the sculpt in HBG’s photo is of the Junkers Ju-488.

Speaking ENTIRELY objective here, and not pointing ANY fingers at Red King or anyone else…

Prussian Blue is supremicst code word.  (Look it up if you don’t believe me).

The term is used as a symbol of verification amongst supremists that the holocaust didn’t happen…  The arguement is that Zyklon B leaves a blue hue or residue on things like tile floors after it’s been used, that’s otherwise impossible to remove.  The “Gas” chambers have NO evidence of this “Blueing” thus the term Prussian Blue exists in one purpose as a symbol to suggesstion that the Nazi party was innocent.

For any nay sayers about to explode in laughter at my claims, before you do, look up the white supremist teen pop band “Prussian Blue” and read why they chose their name.

hmm… I’ll even post you a wiki link!

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prussian_Blue

“There is also the discussion of the lack of ‘Prussian Blue’ coloring (Zyklon B residue) in the so-called gas chambers in the concentration camps. We think it might make people question some of the inaccuracies of the ‘Holocaust’ myth.”[4] This is a reference to the claims[8][9][10] made by many Holocaust deniers that the Holocaust either could not have happened as historians and observers have asserted or that the number of victims could have been far lower.

Oh and I am NOT at liberty to address ANY questions as to why I am familiar with this information, the Jobbik of Hungary, or the Syrian Socialist National party…

With all that said… Count me in line for a Prussian blue set as well. :D

Oh yeah, I saw a 20/20 interview with the blonde twin girls that sing in Prussian Blue. They were really cute but the stuff that came out of their mouths was outlandish. It was weird to hear such things coming from what seemed like such sweet girls.

  • Yeah.

Neither my politics nor my taste in music fits with that stream of “thought”.

Obviously, the pigment predates its co-opting. There’s other hilarious things about how the long forgotten Old Prussians got their name borrowed and battered, but I’m really just interested in the historic Kaiser Wilhelm associations.

Lost in all this is my question about the availability of hex triplets, which I probably shouldn’t have put in this thread. Sorry.

I have an idea for a piece to include. Not sure if it would fit right in the next Axis Minors set or perhaps a possible future German expansion set.

It’s the Me-323 Gigant transport plane, the largest load bearing plane of the war.

  • what happened to the bi-plane?

  • Sponsor '17 '13 '11 '10

    @Yavid:

    what happened to the bi-plane?

Bi-plane and Panzer IV was moved to the Second Axis Minor set.

  • Customizer

I remember the bi-plane, the He-51 I believe, was originally slated to be in the first Axis Minors set but you said the mold was too difficult to make. So it was replaced with the Fw-190. I take it things have improved to make the mold easier?
