I ahve been playing A&A chess (no dice) as per http://www.chessvariants.org/wargame.dir/aa.html and it is brilliant. It turns this ‘beer & pretzel’ game into one of the best strategy games ever. - Plus no complaining over lucky/unlucky dice. Also it makes Play By Mail very easy. What do other prolpe think?
Id rather roll once like in all classic wargames. You index the attack and defense factors and produce a ratio and just roll once. Secondly, from that site id check out the bughouse rules and play that form of chess for 4 players.
Ya know bad dice rolls simulates the fact that sometimes even the best trained sodiers can be defeted by a inferior force. It happens all the time in real life. Even in American history. Consider that our nation was founded after we won a war that by rights we should have lost.
