How I see it is a $5 profit on (1) item is the same as a $1 profit on (5) items.
And that is how they should look at it. You can’t increase sales by increasing prices.
The only fault in that logic is that the community is not actually overly huge and in general is willing to spend a fair bit on a board game. So as your demand is high and your supply is low, they will charge a bit of a premium for their product. It will be as reasonable as possible, I’m sure.

Besides the issue stated above (gamer population) … FMG is not looking to make major (or even minor) profits. All they want is cool stuff and to have that cool stuff fund the next set of cool stuff!
Profit is not part of their business plan. Breaking even and having a ton of cool game stuff is.
does anyone else wonder how big the “gamer population” is for A+A?

I would love to know that also.
As for the issue of FMG duplicating existing WOTC sculpts (say for example creating another ME 109 fighter), I think that they should avoid duplication where possible. This gives their product line the most flexibility. If a person wants to completely replace their existing WOTC pieces good. If a person wants to Supplement their WOTC pieces with additional pieces from FMG to effectively double the number of unit types in there game even better.
Bottom line the general rule should be to create new sculpts after different models than WOTC where feasible. In cases where a nation really only had one practical choice of a unit (aka Bismark Class Battleship) then that class should be used. This is of course only my opinion. Feel free to agree or disagree.
I for one hope that FMG makes a healthy profit on this project which enables them to “Fast Track” the rest of the Combat Units set. I hope that they will eventually get around to creating a TECHNOLOGY/WEAPON’S DEVELOPMENT SET complete with V2 Rockets, ME 262s, Long range Aircraft ect.
I have like 6 or 7 sets of WOTC pieces. hope FMG does new sculpts or i probably wont be as interested. i dont think that will be the case thou.
Definetly want TECHNOLOGY/WEAPONS DEVELOPMENT SET!!!
Great idea

OK yeah. Sure.
I think…heck, I HOPE the plan’s not quite that “innocent” otherwise we’ll never see that cool game stuff.
Last I checked nobody owning a business was being consigned to hell for wanting to make a profit.
In fact I’m quite sure FMG’s kids want to college or even eat every once in awhile, have a roof over their heads etc.

I guess I’m done arguing the point … people will continue to have wildly varying opinions and I see no further point in banging my head against the monitor.
FMG will produce what they can, and they will sell it at a whatever price point they figure out will be best for the continuation of the project. If you buy it, awesome … you have helped further the project. If you don’t … that’s your right as well.
AMEN
How I look at it is that a $2 profit on (5) sets sold is the same profit on as (1) sold with a $10 profit. It just depends on how FMG looks at it. Velocity is key.
Question: Will FMG offer all pieces individually as well. Example, I can buy just German Transport Planes. They can offer a price break if you buy as a package. Reason I ask, is because the last thing I need is more INF.

When they make these pieces, it will be as complete sets. Therefore, they can’t sell unit types individually because it would be cost effective. FMG would end up with tons of unpurchased infantry and end up running out of more popular units.
I will pay 1 million dollars!
HA HA HA HA!!!
I LOVE that scene. Do you remember the commercials back when “The Spy Who Shagged Me” came out on DVD? They show some of the movie then say “You can pick up your copy for the low price of…” then there’s Dr. Evil “ONE HUNDRED BILLION DOLLARS!” while flashing a disclaimer saying “Prices may vary locally.” Hilarious.
@Brain:
You may say “30 bucks is a little to much”… but its not your company / Job / House on the line investing in this product.
I understand where you are coming from, it’s your business to run as you please, but you may be pricing yourself out of the market, sure there are people that will pay $30, but there are probably a lot of sales that are going to be lost from people who are unwilling to pay that price, but who would pay a lower price. The cost of the plastic is pennies so any sale is going to help recover the mold cost.
Also imagine if I wanted to create a game to sell and I wanted to use FMG pieces. By the time I bought all 8 nations and the accesory pieces I would have to sell that game for over $300. I don’t think I would find many takers.
I fully understand your point. We will be able to DRASTICALLY lower the price once all the Nations are complete AND all production costs have been met. Until that time we will have to price in such a way that keeps the project moving forward.
Interest in this project HERE and Elsewhere has been overwhelming so I am fairly confident they will sell.
Can you put some roundels in each set? :-)
I understand this is all business, but I don’t think it is fair or smart business that I will have to pay one price when thee sets come out to keep them coming and then once they are all done they will get lowered. Doing this or saying this will be done will encourage the people who do not have completely expendable income (poor students, poorer adults etc.) to just wait it out. And as it has been mentioned, sales from each set are going to fuel the next. So were all in the same boat. If people think don’t want to spend $30-$40 bucks on Italy, the project will die right? I think the price should be $25 max. Or maybe there can be two sets as some have requested before. One just updating WOTC units and one that has all the new units (transport, second tank, commander). As much as I want to buy every single nation I really can’t spend around $300 bucks on plastic units, my girlfriend would kill me. I just dropped $130 on Global 1940 and that took me a while save up. I realize some people have the money to spend on a $30-$40 set, but won’t those people simply buy two or more sets at a lower price? I know I would if I were in their shoes. One more note, If there were a way to pre-order/invest in buying a complete 9 nation set at a discount to allow FMG to finish the set yet still not spend over twice what I spent on Global, that I would do. I would be willing to pay about $150-$175 for that to happen, but I would like to know asap so I can make a budget. As beautiful as Italy looks, these are plastic. These sets won’t be coming with a board, markers, or rules (to my knowledge but please prove me wrong FMG), so to have them cost more than the suggested list price of the game they go with (Global 1940 $180) seems silly to me. You’re going to turn off a majority of people in my opinion.
I would pay thirty dollars (not including shipping or discount code) if each nation came with some roundels and combat dice
