Re: Making my own WW1 game…
Hey, y’all. I was wondering how y’all made games, like this one. Please reply if you have an answer!
Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion thread

@Brain:
When can we expect that to take place?
Welcome to the AA forum Brain Damaged,
This thread was started back in 03/18/09 so if there’s any news from FMG, they would have posted it here or the FMG dice thread. Just be patient and check back for news.

Maybe in a month or so… Our factory a few sculpts ready and will be making me some ship samples… So I can see their quality and detail.
When I have anything worth showing I will post a pic.

Any possibility you could make some compartmentalized trays to separate all your nice pieces that would just happen to fit into an AA50 box?
-
One important thing about the new AA40 game will be the two types of factories: major and minor. I know FMG is still working on national pieces, but it’s just as a heads up.
Also, Anzac will be a quasi major power in AAP40. Perhaps the Anzac pieces should be made before Germany? :|

Yes, Brain Damaged, Welcome to AxisandAllies.org!

well you cant beat Plano for that. I would like to see some smaller wooden boxes with AA logos on top. The thing is the AA50 game basically came with this and its perfect.
I dont think their is enough ‘bang for the buck’ on that idea, but i could be wrong.
-
I personally don’t want the price inflated to supply fancy boxes or specific cases to fit into an AA box. If you were lucky enough to get an AA50 game then you have most of the cases needed for pieces with the exception of the new powers in the 1940 games. If you were not lucky enough to get an AA50 game then a trip to the dollar store solves your problems. Lets keep the price on these new pieces as low as possible.
-
I was not intending the boxes to come with the pieces. I meant them as a separate purchase. Yes I was lucky enough to scoop up an AA50 on the first day it showed up at my local game store. I am not happy with the inside of the game piece boxes as they only have 3 compartments.

I think FMG already has some packaging in mind.
By the way, a note on Pacific 1940: China will have both infantry and artillery. Will the FMG China Pieces have “everything”, or just the infantry and artillery?
-
You know why you never heard stories of the Chinese navy during World War II? That’s because they didn’t have one.
-
The Chinese to this day cannot even build a Carrier. They had to trick the Russians into saying they want to buy an old one and turn it into a casino, then promptly repaint it and fix it up….Poof! Aircraft Carrier. But that trick only works once.
-
This thread escaped my attention. Great news! Count me in for a set.
I’m a graphic designer myself and I’ve just spent the entire weekend sculpting some custom pieces of my own. I finished 4 models that I was happy with but there are a LOT more I want to do. Now that I know FMG is on the ball, I’ll halt my project until I see what what they’ve come up with. If there are any particular units I would like represented but aren’t, I’ll simply fill in the gaps myself.

Yeah, I was just thinking about that…
good point.
How about the other nations? Well, I guess we should hold of till Pacific comes out to see what units the Anzac Canadians and the neutrals get.
-
Spain and Brazil had decent navy, and army and airforce
Sweden had good tanks and planes
Turkey had a full army, and air force…id give them a ship
nobody else had much beyond army.
I can repost the AARHE neutral army setup charts that are based on OOB for 1941 conversion. just look at the file.
-
This is a question for Imperios Leader, Does Larry Harris take suggestions on game design? It sounds like you have good ideas for games, ie. game rules and suggested pieces, and your gameboards look better.
-
Yes indeed. he takes many ideas that many of us have offered. Just look at the trends in these games. They are getting more historical and the map is getting larger and larger and more pieces show up, neutrals start appearing and things are looking better.
-
Yeah.
See, this is how a Free Market Economy ought to be: consumers actively taking part in the design and prodction of the products. Cheers for the internet.

Should allies of the US have a sculpt for a generic transport, and Sherman tanks and basic arty as a potential lend-lease participant? Could the US be configured in a variation where they actually have turns (pre 1941) where they start giving equipment away at some reduced IPC value (e.g. pre 1941 the US only generates 24 IPC of war materials and on their turn they are placed on the US East Coast in the allied players color for their use)? I think this could have a lot of entertainment value.

Nice one Dino. I like that.
-
I’d like each nation to have a seperate Heavy Bomber sculpt. Maybe it would be released in a Technology Expansion.
I’d like the US to have both B-17s and B-29s.
