Anyone wanna analyse this game?

I’m playing a Global 1940 game with someone else on TripleA as the Axis.
So far I feel that things are not going well, to say the least.
Do you think I am right in feeling that? What did I do wrong and why? Is there any way to turn it around? Should I concede?
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato I didn’t spend hours poring over it, but my gut says to concede. You are not going to topple that stack in Moscow, and it is only a matter of time on the Pacific until the UK clears you out of any mainland IPCs, leaving you at the mercy of the American navy.
Two considerations:
First, it looks to me as if your prep for Barbarossa was a turn behind. I see armor in W. Germany at the beginning of turn 3 when it should have been a part of the initial push toward Leningrad. The northern stack of German units was weak and never really reinforced, and the southern stack never really moved at all. Barbarossa needs more oomph, flair, and pizzazz (to use technical terms) to be successful. It looks instead to me like the Soviets were calling the shots from the get go.
The Pacific side is being weirdly glitchy for me and I cannot see all the turns, so this may be useless advice if the board isn’t accurate for me. But what it looks like (again, could be far off, here) is that Japan never transported land units into China in any meaningful way. There were two turns of glory and then earsplitting bangs as China and the UK both shot 12 gauge shotguns at the sitting ducks which were your unreinforced land units. I am on a roll with nonsensical ways of describing things but I think you get my point. Both sides of the board needed more initial dedication and reinforcement to succeed, and with the Allies positioning, units, and especially economies besting yours, I’d say it’s a good time to save yourself the time and wave a white hanky.

Thank you so much.
I tried to do The Good Captain’s J1 attack did but I did not know about the one weakness, mainly Soviet Pacific units.
I never play this aggressive, usually I wait for the Allies to declare war on me (for delusional reasons that I’ll explain if you want me to).
With this in mind, when I play against myself (I have never tried this strategy against another player but I really should) I always have Japan build a minor industrial complex in Shantung and Kiangsu, then build up mechanised units and send them against China and the UK.
Actually should I really be revealing this strategy? Oh well. Too late.
As for Europe I think I was trying a G3 attack, as The Good Captain recommended. Like Japan I never attack so aggressively.
Usually I try to fight more against the Western Allies while waiting for the Soviets to declare war. If lucky and they attack I can execute a devastating Manstein backhand blow and the path to Moscow is mostly guaranteed.
But again, there are obvious ways to counter this German plan.
-
Also, after The Good Captain highlighted my mistake I really wanted a redo anyway.
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato Good deal. My philosophy is a more or less refined version of a raging bull in the Soviet china shop, and I find aggressive but smart play the key to Axis success.
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato Out of curiosity, what did TGC say?
-
I told him about me doing his J1 attack (basically this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRi3aIsj8P8).
After looking through the game, he mentioned how the asterisks in the video referred to how a Soviet 18 infantry stack in Amur is the only way to derail this strategy. Which I didn’t know since he didn’t mention it in the video.
So yeah, he said that he couldn’t see anywhere where I was doing well.
-
I think that’s what most players do as well. I’m also playing a game where the Soviets did move their army out of Amur and I’m using The Good Captain’s J1 attack (the game uses Low Luck)
Let me know if you would like to take a look at that one too.

I’m in a bit of a pickle here again:

I don’t think the game is lost, but I need to figure out how to deal with the Caroline Islands.
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato Sorry it took me so long (family in town so I’ve been absent), but here’s an idea if it isn’t too late:
Defensively their navy is pretty formidable, but they don’t have the capacity to definitively place themselves anywhere else without huge risk. My though is to station your from SZ 6 and maybe a few from the DEI in SZ 35 around the Phillipines and to keep your air force in French Indochina with that airbase. That allows them to hit either SZ 6 or 35 if the US does make a move. Keep building navy units and use your kamikaze tokens, and I think you’re in a good position to keep the US out of your major sphere for at least a few turns while the European side does some damage (it looks like the US is going KJF at the moment). Basically just swing your navy to SZ 35 and keep your planes in range of 35 and 6. He can’t make a move without losing that whole navy yet.
-
Also keep 3 fighters on the Philippines. Forgot to mention that even though it’s probably a no brainer.
-
Thank you so much! I’m worried for an American attack on the mainland, but it makes sense that they would not attack due to fear of counterattack.
I was waiting for a reply before I played.
Thanks a lot again! I appreciate your advice.
-
Makes sense.
-
Might put a couple more just in case the Americans stay put in the Carolines.
-
Moved my southern fleet to French Indo China. It was more easily reachable by all units (the aircraft carrier near Sumatra couldn’t reach sea zone 35), and it allowed me to send all my transports to sea zone 36 to pose a pretty significant threat to India.
Sure hope the kamikazes will make my opponent think twice about moving into sea zone 6.
Wish me luck!

Hi!
This is the same game as the last one:
yamato-v-mike-g40-low-luck-usuk-5.tsvg
Due to a… miscalculation and the underestimation of the use of carriers as cannon fodder, the IJN lost huge.
Is there any way I can rebound? Thank you!
By the way, what are your thoughts on using carriers as cannon fodder?
I always thought that was stupid given their high cost, but the battle has made me rethink that. What is your opinion? Thank you!
