@Sgt-Mclusky Unlike previous renditions of A+A I find that AA40 has so many options and paths to victory that were still playing it and seeing new strategies in my group. Granted I was late to the party with this version so I don’t have years of experience, but we do play an awful lot, and almost never see the same game twice.
Allied Global Strategy.

In my game Germany didn’t send any aircraft so only had the 7-9 infantry in Finland. They fell easily to the Soviets. A counterattack wiped them out though.

@superbattleshipyamato
As I said a competent German Player. Why would you not defend Norway properly from the Russians? -

India
The India garrison must keep a careful watch on the Japanese fleet. If it looks like they are grouping for an attack, the Garrison pulls back into India.A decent Japanese player is going to take India by sea with overwhelming air support. Then turn around and stalemate the Allies in the money islands.
ANZAC making 31 a turn isn’t going to happen while the IJN is alive.

Thanks for responding!
I’m glad you fleshed it out and made it more detailed.
I think this going to be hard for the Axis to defeat. The British and Chinese worked really well together in Yunnan in my first game but then the Japanese withdraw from Kwangsi and the Allies fatally split their forces, handing Japan the victory.
I might test this out, but keep in mind:
I play against myself and am rather biased personally for the Axis to win.
I don’t think the Allies have ever won a game of Global 1940
-
I’m playing on TripleA with the Hard AI as the Axis. I’m going to test this revised strategy.
Wish me luck!

Good Luck Super Battleship Yamato !

I finished the game. Here are the results:
The Allies won. While I’m sure some of it was due to your strategy, the AI made many mistakes, such as:
Letting China just retake many territories without putting up any resistance.
Turtling in Hong Kong for no reason.
Not building industrial complexes in China.
Barely trying to go for the Dutch East Indies.
Not putting their aircraft on their carriers, instead using them as fodder, leading to their navy being sunk quickly.
Building transports and moving them unescorted within range of Allied aircraft.
Declaring war on true neutrals.
That last one was important. It allowed the massive British army in the Middle East and Africa to move through Turkey and open up a Balkan front. While the Germans were able to deadzone Yugoslavia and cause many British casualties, it seriously diverted German forces from the Soviets. It also allowed the Soviets to collect their bonus for Lend-Lease after the recapture of Archangel.
The Germans never really had a chance to capture Moscow, despite moving next to it at times.
The US focused mainly on the Pacific, knowing that the Soviets and British could deal with the Germans.
Here’s the full game:

Someone needs to program a decent AI. Probably needs some scripted opening libraries for turn 1 to give it a reasonable start.
G40>> Go >> Chess.

In general practice I would assume that Iraq is not available for a minor IC as it is Russian controlled. That means you are talking about Persia only. I think that is just fine and dandy with the caveat already stated.
Is it worth the wait if there is no DOW on T1? I prefer the IRAQ factory on T2 for UK as its much quicker to get reinforcements into Egypt from there.

Most Axis Players are probably going to wait till G3 to DOW against Russia; a few go on G2 amd rarely do you see a G1. If you are one of those Players that prefers to have Iraq as the UK instead of Russian then don’t wait for the Germany DOW.
-
My latest conclusion as a result of studying Andrew’s games: The Persian factory makes the likelihood of losing to 8 vcs in Europe increase dramatically. In fact, I would declare that strategy a no go zone against a good player. It helps with both a Pacific and Europe vc win. And it is just as good of an option, maybe better, than capturing Moscow.
If you bring a huge stack into Moscow, how many turns will it take you to get to India or Egypt. I think the only solution to Andrew’s play is a steady supply of mobiles running across N Africa to support the Middle East. With the possibility of invasion or raid ever present.
-
I don’t understand. Why not Persia? The Iraq-Egypt-South Africa minor industrial complex strategy worked very well.
-
Look at his games. You are buying factories for late game Germany.
-
Btw to put on the math hat, the Persia factory means Persia is worth 12+2+2=16 ipcs.

Hey All
Im running through a game in AAA with the AI turned off so I can try to hard counter my overall strategies as set out based of peoples recommendations.
The first result was a fight to the death in Finland. Germans won with the planes and a few troops left. This happened in round three. Maybe a bit too agressive from the Russians. They had previously sunk all german shps except the transport which had dumped quite a lot of reinforcements in Norway. The extra Bombers Germany bought to the fight tipped things in Germanies favour.
A round 4 sneak attack on India by Japan failed to take the British by surprise and was easilly fended off
Chinese kill stack holds Yunnan while British clear Burma and Siam.
Anzac has been busy while the Japanese fleet was off raiding India
Turn 5 and Russia is struggling to stop the Blitzkreig!
Italy hangs on in Africa
The Cavalry is on the Way!
UK have finished building the Egypt to Singapore Wall.
Overall the Germans are doing much better than expected and the Japs are doing worse than when I play the AI. Obviously the AI does make a lot of mistakes. The Japanese lost a lot of momentum with the failed attack on India. The Russians also lost a lot in their Norway adventure.
The question is now whether the British can save the Russians or the Chinese from being crushed.

2 transports & 4 planes? It’s 3x times that amount. See the J4 India crush in a recent playoff game: 2022-oob-playoffs-r1-andrewaagamer-x-vs-oysteilo-a-60(5).tsvg
