Who would win in a fight on a coast (on paved roads) between 100 production models of the Ratte tank and one Yamato class battleship? No movement is allowed, no other units are allowed, both sides never break down, and both sides are fully loaded with ammunition. The distance is a Yamato class battleship’s point blank range. Yamato can fire it’s broadside. So basically it is a massive gun duel between both sides, until one side is destroyed. If the Ratte tanks lose, how many Ratte tanks would it take to beat down the Yamato? Thank you!

Just as the title says. Can anyone recommend a good book or two on that battle?

“The heart of the 6th army” by Heinz G. Konsalik
“Dogs, Do You Want To Live Forever” don’t know the author but there is a film out w. that title and the book of course
you also wanna check “Podzun-Pallas books” they are from Germany but have english subtitle. The book Stalingrad was very good, it had all the time frames from Voronesh to the end of the pocket of Stalingrad…causulties, numbers of men fought and died, Divisions, Generals almost everything…it even mentioned the story of that russian guy who invented a AA-gun out of a bicycle and scrap…but it is more a documentry book

A great novel is War of the Rats, by David L. Robbins.

Try Stalingrad, by Anthony Beevor….one of the best works on the subject (Penguin Books)

I’m not really looking for a novel.
Preferably one book by a historian removed from the battle, one from a German General or general’s staff officer and one from a Russian General or general’s staff officer. Alternately two from detached historians.
Thanks for the recomends so far.
