@flyingbadger Ok, two rounds completed. What do you think? Japan went from 45 to 70 IPC per turn in a round, that is a positive side for me. They will be slowed for now, Russians moving south to threaten Manchuria, Americans smartly moved to eastern side of Hawaii to stay in Pacific, UK holding India and ANZAC strengthening in the south. Its difficult to fight investment of around 85-90 with 70, we need to do something quickly.
In Europe, UK is split to three fronts, threatend in the Middle East by Italians, starting to get hit by German subs but holding Gibraltar strongly. We’ll see, Germans are still low on income and with navy investment are not really threatening Russians so far. They need to start doing something there.

@flyingbadger Ok, two rounds completed. What do you think? Japan went from 45 to 70 IPC per turn in a round, that is a positive side for me. They will be slowed for now, Russians moving south to threaten Manchuria, Americans smartly moved to eastern side of Hawaii to stay in Pacific, UK holding India and ANZAC strengthening in the south. Its difficult to fight investment of around 85-90 with 70, we need to do something quickly.
In Europe, UK is split to three fronts, threatend in the Middle East by Italians, starting to get hit by German subs but holding Gibraltar strongly. We’ll see, Germans are still low on income and with navy investment are not really threatening Russians so far. They need to start doing something there.
Good idea, lets compare thoughts for mutual gain. Some inital thoughts.
The earlier DOW still doesn’t really bring in US into the war until turn 3 as it takes a while to build and move the units, and the J1 DOW combined with the G2 DOW stretches the US before it has had time to build up any forces. Certainly makes the Pacific require more attention in the early game.
The J1 DOW made me focus on defensive purchases for Australia as you never know what Japan’s target might be and it starts very light on land units. However, it does activate some of the ANZAC objectives straight away for nice little boost to IPCs.
Can’t tell if a G2 DOW is better or worse for Russia. I do like adding a bit of artillery to the Siberian forces and have the theat/option of an attack on Japan if needed.
The J1 DOW seems good for China, I’ve been able to stack Yunnan and buy artillery which I haven’t managed before in a PtV game.
Think I would have prefered it if you had triggered Vichy to turn those African territories into useful IPCs for the Allies on capture, but the retention of some extra infantry is useful in the short term.
Still not sure I like the Gibraltar fleet-in-being strategy so much, feels too passive and Italy needs to be stopped early otherwise it gets tricky, but stacking Gibraltar is better than a failed Taranto raid, at least with the J1 DOW the Royal Navy can give cover to the US transports coming over the Atlantic whereas the Taranto raid would make them vulnerable.
