Former pastor Jeremiah Wright and Obama the Grey

  • I don’t recall ever being told to put my hand over my heart for the anthem.  In fact, I can’t even remember the last time I heard it.

Regardless, I think he showed ample respect, but go ahead and worry over things that don’t matter.

No, I believe he’s trying to tell you that the GOVERNMENT is not and has not been racist against BLACKs.  We can debate if America was racist against whites in the late 60s, 70s, 80s and early 90s because some laws were repealed based on them being racist against Whites.

However, for your first statement: slavery, poll taxes, grand father clauses, segregation, discrimination, lynchings, etc.

And, how many of those, alleged, laws would you like to say existed in the past 20 years since Barry Obama has been hanging around with his black version of the KKK?

I can’t remember being at a baseball or hockey game where they didn’t play the anthem and where 90% of the people in the audience held their hand over their heart.  You take off your hat hold it over your heart and you sing the song, it’s respect.

That’s the problem, Dezzy, there’s a large segment of the population who do not have respect for anything but themselves.  I think it is a problem with how the children of the Baby Boomers were raised, myself.  It’s the victim mentality, or the entitlement mentality, take your pick.

However, it is clear that Barrack Obama and his Wife both ascribe to the “woe is me, I am a victim of…” mentality and that’s what is currently biting him hard in the butt.

That would be ignorant, not naive.

The last baseball game I was at I was playing in, and we didn’t play it.  The anthem just doesn’t get played enough for people to know.  But really, do you want to cause another Roseanne Barr fiasco?!?

You know what the problem is?  It’s people like you that have more respect for a piece of fabric that SYMBOLIZES something way more important, and don’t value those principles themselves.  If you did, you’d see this country and the world in general a lot different.

yeah, but a highschool or college game.  or pickup game?  if it was anything pro, i think its mandated that they have too.  actually the same with college right?

the piece of fabric represents something.  something about sacrifice, of the men who died to make that flag a reality.  but what do lefties know about sacrifice.  there isnt a thing in the mantra of the democratic party that calls for sacrifice, well maybe giving more of your earned money to an entity to misspends it.

and wow, somehow if someone is serious about respecting the flag, they somehow dont value the principals that the flag represents?  did i miss something?

    Nice personal attack.

I have respect for the symbol because of what it symbolizes.  I have no respect for the ignorant or the naive who chose to be ignorant or naive.

In fact, I don’t have to see this country or the world in general differently.  The only country on this planet that matters is my country.  The only people in it who matter or the people who fight to protect it or are family members of those who fight to protect it.  People who really do not matter are the ones who would murder the innocent, who would steal the profits of others out of jealousy, those who would force their opinions on others through force of government or any other socialist pig who happens to get elected or goes to the ballot box.

Socialism has failed in every nation it was tried.  It failed in Italy, it failed in Nazi Germany, it failed in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, and the Democrats will fail with it as well.  The only difference is, will they take down the entire nation with them before they fail or will Capitalism, Liberty and American Patriotism win out before they can?

Sometimes I get the impression you’d like nothing better then to see millions of Americans die so that Democrats can get power.  Not saying you do, but it’s the impression I get.  I get the same impression whenever anyone boasts about how many Americans have died here or there.  I get the same impression whenever anyone tells me that we need the government to run (______) fill in the blank with whatever program you happen to like.  I get the same impression whenever someone tells me that _______ is not protected as a citizen and killing them is “okay.”  I get the same impression whenever someone tells me that the American Flag is just a rag that can be burned, covered in feces or done who knows what too.  i get the same impression whenever someone doesn’t have the common sense and respect to at least stand up and salute the national anthem.  Hell, I stand up when the Canadian anthem, or any other anthem is played, out of respect for them as a sovereign nation.

Disrespecting the flag is akin to walking up to General George Washington and urinating on him and every other soldier who served in defense of this nation.  Not saluting or even standing for the national anthem and/or pledge of allegiance is even worse, it’s akin to both urinating on every soldier who served in defense of this nation, but also spitting on the US Constitution and kissing Osama Bin Laden.

I fully support legislation that would strip you of your citizenship and put you in prison for life for desecrating the flag, a soldier, government property and/or failing to render honors.  You don’t have to believe, you just have to give honor where it is due.  God knows there are officers I wouldn’t save from imminent death, but I bloody well saluted them when they walked past.

Now THAT IS A PIPE DREAM.  There’s too many bleeding heart socialists out there who would rather see homeless veterans starve to death in the street then try and force an illegal alien to learn our language.
