Wow, is it such an important decision? I usually scramble just to try to take out some British aircraft, however in my opinion both options are equal and up to the Axis player’s preference.

@VictoryFirst Definitely. I stand behind that statement. We just had a playoff game last month where the Axis player had bottom 4% on Paris, poor J1 dice, and then won the 97 battle pretty big. Although he is one of our 2 best players and was playing the 8 seed, our 8 seed resigned right there.
It is definitely great to take out 2 Italian planes and a German one that helps Russia so much, but that is assuming it goes OK. It is an extremely volatile battle that can win it either way. If the Axis survive with a transport and a plane or two, that is devastating especially if they turn it into a pretty quick Egypt capture. And of course, if the Allies win the battle with almost all ships left over after killing 3 planes, the Axis have trouble cleaning it up, and if the Germans lose a lot of planes doing it…

Many players, it seems will never scramble because they want to have control over what happens on their turn, not at the mercy of defensive dice.
I, on the other hand, have always been more of a scrambler on G1 to 110 to take out 2 or more German planes, and often on UK1 or else have a big UK fleet sitting in 97. But in our situation where I skipped 110 (unthinkable to most players) I have the airforce intact so I can clean it up without much risk -
Something wrong happened again, I was thinking hard about my British NCM, and I was planning to play out the game in local, but I accidentally had the dice server on, so it rolled for convoy raiding using the dice server. You did three damage in SZ 106. Let me know if you are OK if make some changes to my NCM. I will make sure Britain loses three IPCs from convoy raiding regardless what happens when I do my turn for real.

You can start over with your NCM and since you didn’t think you were doing it for real, go ahead and do the convenient thing and let it roll again. The first roll with 3 damage doesn’t count, that is perfectly fine and you do not owe me for that.

You just showed me that not scrambling the aircraft is very powerful because having the aircraft alive allows you to have a lot of power projection. I spent more than an hour on this British turn… lol. You throwed me off by destroying the SZ 91 cruiser. I am currently using almost the exact same Allied opener in two other games and those are going for my feeling much more streamlined because there people allowed me to do my stuff.

Perhaps next time a sub in SZ 91 is better instead of two extra Chinese infantry.
