Most A&A games are like sniper matches, lots of movement, few shots, utter destruction most of the time something lands.
This is as you say, daggers to throats. It brings to mind competition longsword fighting: quick short bouts with some quick footwork and a lot of hits back and forth!
a short 2 minute video if you’ve never watched longsword combat. I did HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) for a couple years and really should get back into it. Fantastic exercise ;)

Thinking about tech since Martin had that question,
I’m actually thinking in my future games I may propose that LRA not be entirely delayed another round. LRA needs to be delayed to avoid game-breaking attacks AND so you don’t have to prep your forces to reduce the damage.
Anyway, would be quite possible to give LRA almost immediate impact like all the rest of the techs without breaking the game.
When discovered, use of the extra range is not allowed in making a combat move. During noncombat, all aircraft can go an extra space.
Seems like a good compromise
And no it has nothing to do with my fantastic fortune in discovering LRA early with Germany

LOL this brings back memories of AA50.
First, you couldn’t hit the tech on Triple A either!
Second, it makes total sense to roll tech before getting in to planning your move - I remember especially that my arch-nemesis from back in the day would always do that.
But they were just AA50 moves. He mainly did it because he couldn’t wait to see if he got something.
Well, UK is one step closer to LRA then. Got radar out of the way. That will stop the bombings of Egypt, and might actually do me a favor by deterring failed SBR raids of my precious long-range bombers.
too bad you can’t get long-range paratroopin’ heavy bombers any more.
And they had an additional range of TWO in the little AA50 map, lol. We house-ruled it to 1
Now I have all 3 moves to make tonight, since I shook down badger. Maybe I’d better play him first :p
I got the Iceland battle, that makes UK happy. Losing 2 in Carolines and 3! in Syria was a little unexpected, but I won all the battles and got UK Pacific a juicy set of IPCs to bring against Japan. The bomber fleet stands ready if USA can get lucky…
I haven’t played much tech except in Classic but I love Anniversary, great map set up. I just miss airbases for the scramble every time I play. Now when I play OOB/BM I miss carrier scrambles and land scrambles. Hard for me to not play PtV exclusively at this point, but a lot of BM opponents on here ;)
Path to Victory has become much more popular lately
