Haven’t seen any activity related to A&A Online in a while. Steam Page hasn’t been updated since the AMA back in late March.
Just wondering if anyone’s heard anything about when the Early Access will become accessible to folks other than the “chosen few,” so to speak.
Hello! There’s no update yet. The release date hasn’t been set. The AMA is indeed the last event regarding AAO. The game is still in development.
They posted screenshots of the game on steam. It seems to look like they are close to an early access state but im not a developer.
Not news, but check out the recent Matt Chat interview with Brent Knowles (at 3:20 he starts talking about Axis & Allies Online).
This episode features an interview with Brent Knowles where he gives insights on a range of game design issues, including a talk about Axis & Allies Online.
We’re still working on the game, it’s pretty much active. Just wanted to give you folks a heads-up.
!
Great to hear! I still check steam every few days waiting for the release, haha.
Me too, much looking forward to it! Would be great to know a rough release date, e.g. Q3/Q4?
In our internal build, we now have implemented a defensive profile which every player can tune as they wish. So now you can pick any profile you want, including submerging of submarines, etc.
This is big news. Does this mean players can set their own OOL preferences on a turn-by-turn basis?
@DoManMacgee You can tweak your profile each turn, so you will have a chance for that (although I just set up my profile the way I prefer, and left it at that).
@JuliusBorisovBeamdog
Changing the OOL on a turn-by-turn basis is a huge improvement. Naval Battles and Capital Defenses in particular can sometimes warrant unusual decisions for OOL. For example, some players may want to lose Bombers ASAP during a Life-or-Death Capital Defense, and you may want to lose Fighters before Carriers (or vice versa) in some naval battles Vs. others.
Thanks for putting in the extra effort on this one. You may want to post this information in another thread, or make a new one to share the news. I’m pretty sure the fixed OOL was a point of contention for others (I didn’t really care one way or the other, but I appreciate the extra effort).
@DoManMacgee We’re trying to be low-key at the moment about the game’s features. It hasn’t launched in the Early Access yet.
From the blog entry today:
https://www.beamdog.com/news/happy-10th-birthday-beamdog/
“Our Axis & Allies title is also on the horizon, which is a new kind of game for us. We’re digging into the strategy, teamwork, and rivalry that made the original board game great, so I’m hopeful the release will be a hit with veteran Axis & Allies players— and with new players too. We’ve created introductory tutorials, plus all the setup and rules are automated, so it’s a great way to learn the classic game.”
Well Happy Birthday then! Thanks for the update. Kind of cool to see everyone gathered in a room there, gives a sense of perspective. Look forward to seeing more in days to come
Was the email I got this morning advertising a July 31 (Wednesday) Early-Access go-live date real?
@DoManMacgee Yes, according to the steam-site:

Woo! Looking forward to rolling out tomorrow.
So I don’t know that I’ve ever been around for an early release. Seems I always come at things like 2 or 3 years late. What exactly does it entail? Can just go to steam and buy/download the thing tomorrow? If so sounds great! Or do I gotta do something else beforehand?
Are the internal forums up yet? Or they launch at the same time? I didn’t catch a link
Is it up at midnight? cause I don’t have work tomorrow haha
@Black_Elk said in Any News?:

Yes, it is that easy. :slightly_smiling_face:

I don’t know your timezone. According to Steam we can expect it at about 16:00 UTC.
