Do you scramble in SZ33? Also, I have no destroyers, so you can either submerge or fight with your subs. Only my cruiser and 2 BBs can hit your subs. So submerge now and counter-attack with 2 subs + 3 subs later, or use them as extra hits now to try and inflict more damage. As I can’t land my fighters on damaged carriers, it’s a balancing act for me on casualties taken.

Holy crap…what a slugfest, right till the very end! I didn’t realize there was a 3 max on scramble, thanks for pointing that out. I still would’ve scrambled as I really wanted that fleet of yours gone. I was honestly hoping to still have at least one surface warship left, oh well.

Yeah, they changed the scramble rule for the 2nd edition. So if you have a first edition board game, the rulebook is out of date. It was changed mostly because Japan starts out with SOO many planes, they could leave them in Japan or anywhere and prevent the US from amphibing anything. 3 is still useful, but not as game-changing as the ability to scramble 15 planes as Japan can do from the beginning.
