Search was causing the DB to crash sometimes. So instead of getting an alert in the middle of the night, I’ve set it up so that the servers should restart on their own.
Who's on Reddit?
-
The /r/boardgames moderator seems to have something against me. So I’ll need somebody else to post the articles from this site to Reddit. Preferably not the same person every week.
Any volunteers?
-
Who is even using that site? I don’t get it. Is the purpose to get people to get to this site? If that is what the intention is, i feel it’s better to advertize on BGG and people would click to get here.
Reddit looks like a computer program language flow chart. Ugly
-
I want to bring in traffic from any place that potentially has people interested in A&A. But you’re right BGG is a much better target and not as stringent with the rules.
-
How much does it cost to place advert on the right hand side at BGG?
Most bang for the buck.
-
Good question. I would only want the ad on specific pages but worth investigating.
-
Well HBG does adverts that seem to appear when anybody clicks or types Axis and Allies games.
You cant get better than that since you attract alot of traffic specifically for AA to your site.
Ask Doug what he pays or contact BGG
-
when you type any AA title at BGG, this shows up. I’m thinking you could replace the banner on the right column. This is a much more efficient way to get traffic. Reddit has no want for AA, those moderators probably hate AA and why they junked your input. Yes it does cost money but it will work the best.
I might look at Cosimworld as secondary site
-
I might consider /r/wargames for the everyday articles and /r/boardgames for only the big announcements.
The only issue with advertising is that is that it might be a negative ROI. If I spend money on advertising, it needs to result in equal or greater advertising (or patron support) revenue.

What about using /r/axisallies for announcements since it’s specific to Axis and Allies?
We’re on Reddit but not frequently (just trying it out at the moment tbh … it’s odd there)
-
I’m looking into using /r/wargames because /r/axisandallies only has 6 readers and I don’t want to accidentally make that more popular than here.
-
which is why you want that BBG Banner, which is nothing but a link to here… so that issue will never happen.
-
Turns out the /r/wargames folks are really nice and eager to hear about A&A stuff, within reason.

If you all need help navigating the Reddit culture, I’m happy to assist. I’ve been on Reddit for two years, and I know more or less how it works. I don’t hang out on r/boardgames or r/axisandallies specifically, but I know the site as a whole.
I agree with what others have said - it’s a very strange place. Very strange.
