@RisingSun I had similar experience, I was big into the naval miniatures but couldn’t afford both. I bought a lot on ebay a year or so ago and have played a few games. It is not difficult to learn especially if you are familiar with the navy side, it’s pretty similar but includes facing. I think it’s a great game and wish I had collected it some when it was active.
The Higgins boat
-
How do you use the higgins boat? It dosent seem to be particularly useful and yet it is 20$. Is there some sort of beachhead map its intended for?
-
The Higgins boat is an overrated scenario piece that rarely gets used but seems to fetch a crazy price on the singles market. They can be purchased cheaper from other 15mm mini mfg’s. If you have one sell it and buy some useful units with the proceeds.

Like FM said, it’s only a scenario piece… yet some players fees that they need an entire armada of them! :D

Can it even move on regular terrain?

Can it even move on regular terrain?
It can move in water hexes only. So it can technically move up and down rivers but its speed makes it cheaper to move soldiers around the map in transport. Basically it is used when there is a considerable approach to the beach and the enemy could fire on them on the way in. Most players when playing beach landing scenarios have the troops deployed on the beach as though they just unloaded from the Higgins. The other issue with using them is the amount of points they cost for units that cannot participate much beyond turn 1 or 2. At least the Amtrac and LVT can function off the beach.
