@genken Might be cool to have a house rule that 1) 1, 2 or 3 the ship is damaged in a way that it moves at half but attacks full or 2) 4, 5, or 6 it is damaged in a what that it moves 2 spaces but attacks with a hit on 1 or 2 vs 4 normally.

I also think there should be a rule change. USA should not be able to noncom next to the Asian coastline, just as it can’t non-com to African or European.
Define “Asia.” Does that include the DEI? The Philippines? Japan?
I meant Pacific rim of Asian continental landmass, so would include Z6, yes.
I leave it up to others to decide if this includes Phillipines, Carolines, etc, but to me it should include all major Jap power centers. I mean, since they already have the African/European rule in effect, might as well make it more realistic on the other theater as well. -

If a Kamikaze attacks an AC, and its damaged, are the planes on it trapped?
Do you roll each Kamikaze seperatly ? And when do you have to determine which ship targets?And why shuold it not be possible to target Transports?More or less the same with the suprise attack of U-boats. When an AC hast no Destroyers at his side, and I’m attacking only with U-boats, my understanding is that the AC could be damaged before any planes could start.
Scrambling is only valid from Islands with AB, right? Because there was an earlier post which mentioned England…
Lately I’m a bit confused about all this Alpha setup talk… Maybe someone could open a new thread for Alpha?

No, not trapped on the carrier. They would be in the air, because it’s combat movement/combat. They might be out of luck if the carrier was its only landing place after the battle, though!

Kamikaze targets are picked individually before rolling. They need to be rolled separately if the targets are different, yes.
Do you know of an instance where a Kamikaze hit a transport? I thought they always/or mainly went after capital ships. Anyway, it doesn’t have to make sense. It’s the rule. The planes on board could be trapped only if they belong to a power different than the carrier. In this case, they would be cargo.

The planes would be defending in the air, no matter who they belong to.

I’m from Austria, if someone knows the place (somewhere in Greater Southern Germany, on your battlemaps… :wink:), so please excuse any mistakes in my spelling and/or grammar. :-)
My group and I have played the OOB setup four or five times now, and in our opinion, the Axis has a good chance to win. So we think, if at all, the setup favors the Allies…
As I read earlier: you guys play one round in about one hour? And after roughly 7 round it’s clear which side wins?
In my experience a full round takes a minimum of 2 hours, and after 4 rounds the winner is clear.
Also i have read some of the tactics proposed here, and I’d really like to show you our tactics sometime because we always seek the quickest way to beat our opponent, including some moves of considerable risk. Therefore we can’t really understand those tactics presented which include round 4 or 5. As we play, a tactic can only be valid for the first round, maybe a “long term” for the second or third round, but after the second everything depends on your initial moves and you luck.
No offence meant.I overlooked the setup for Alpha+(1. 2 ? :?) and we really liked some changes(for example the NO’s for the US),but without an actual game played like this, I can’t say if it’s for the better or the worse. I’m hoping for another game (OOB) this week or the one after that, to finalise our Axis tactics, and will then post it for those of you who are interested.
Btw. took me a long time to figure out what all these abbreviations you use mean… but I think I got them now.
Great work so far, this is an awesome game! Forum is great too.

As for you Viribus, forget using the OOB setup, Alpha will soon replace it entirely, and Alpha is a vastly superior design - endorsed by Larry Harris. Definetely try it for your upcoming game! You will notice DRASTIC differences when compared to the OOB setup.

If the US is at war with someone (not necessarily Japan), they can land there. If the US is still neutral, they cannot.

In my opinio Germany doesn’t need any pimpin’ up. From the last few games I played the axis powers lost whenever Japan started to crumble, and in Alpha Japan seems somewhat underpowered (1 or 2 planes too few). Most of the requests at Larry’s site seem to be from people who wanna make it easier for Germany to take UK (which historically was extremely unlikely) and not be slowed down in Russia either. I believe that doing one should always make the other much harder. But all I read is ‘Germany needs more planes’, ‘more land unites’, ‘more fleet’. Where is the fun when it is so easy to win as Germany as some seem to want? Axis powers should have it very hard and should win 33-40% of the time, and then when you win it is rewarding rather than just waltzing into London on G3 and Moscow on G5/6.

Burma road was not to supply artillery to China but raw materials and food.
In Anniversary Edition China could only buy infantry but somone thought that China was to weak and to resolve that, someone thought - lets allow China to buy Artillery.
To be Hstorical, China would still recieve 6 ipc if Burma road is open, but could not buy artillery. China would be able to buy 2 infantry for the price of one (the chinese army had lots of imprepared soldiers) and would attack at 1 and defend at 1 instead of 2.

I have a few questions abour the global rules. I am terribly sorry if it is answered before but it is difficult to read it all!
In our actual playing London is in German hands, all Africa is own by Italy and Japan is US controlled.
- Do the UK territories of Africa work like french? I mean. If US liberate the territories, as London is not free, the income is added to the US income.
- If Anzac liberate territories of Africa, adds the income of the territory (french or UK)? And UK Pacific? Would add only the french?
- If Anzac liberate South Africa. Can use the IC? If no, we think it is strange that the opposite can and the ally not…
- What happens with the china territories tha began controlled by Jap if they are liberated. Do the IPC go to china or the the liberator? Can China use the facilities builded by the Jap?
- We have seen that there is a way to retard everything. Russian can stay only one infantery on multiple territories so there is a long way to arrive to Moscu. At the same way. German o Japanes can put a single destroyer en every sea area so US advance only one territoy each turn. Is it right?

Correct. The US will control them until London is liberated.

Since Paris and London are controlled by the Axis, ANZAC would control liberated African territories temporarily. If India is still held by UK, any UK territories on the Pacific map liberated by ANZAC (or anyone) would be returned to UK control.

They go to China. Any industrial complexes are destroyed.

Yes. However, another power can always clear a path for progress. For example, Italy can take a USSR territory, allowing German tanks and mechanized infantry to move through to the next territory on Germany’s turn.

I’m houseruling that, so that UK Pacific can control those teritories and gain its IPC. The territories get a Union Jack roundel (I have plenty).

Well, if you don’t mind another question…
In a liberated territory (capital is under enemy control) that meets the requirements (2 or 3 PICs)… can the controller build an IC there? upgrade an existing? naval and air bases?

Yes, absolutely. But when you liberate your allies capital, it becomes theirs.
That does however, present another kunundrum. Say you own a factory on “Liberated” territory, and you build your maximum unit production. If you end up liberating your allies said capital, you now can’t place those units in the factory that was “just” yours.
