Sgt, compared to AA50….
Strat bombers still cost 12 and have the same unit stats - 4/1/6
They are no longer used for paratrooping.
They can now fly 7 spaces from an airbase.
They have more strat bombing targets - Air bases, naval bases, and complexes. All industrial complexes can now be bombed for at least 6 damage (not the case in AA50). However, strat bombings can be defended by fighters/tacs, potentially (was only an optional rule in AA50 - now is standard)
LRA has been nerfed to +1 (thankfully)
Chart 1 techs have taken a serious hit, so Chart 2 doesn’t really need the awesome 2-hit heavies… I mean, mech infantry now sux about as bad as improved artillery, rockets won’t be able to hit as many targets as easily, because of the expanded game board, war bonds added 1-6 IPC’s are a smaller percentage of most powers’ incomes… Improved shipyards, super subs, jets, and radar will be more valuable than in AA50 because of more money, more subs, more fighters, and buying more boats. Think about the USA with improved shipyards, super subs, and/or jets with about 80 IPC’s per turn. Scary.
That said, I’m with you, I think the nerf from 2 hits to 1 hit was unnecessary. And I’m not sure they don’t still get best of two dice SBR results. Mickelson is not 100% sure of the accuracy yet, because he doesn’t have the rulebook. Some of the things on his chart are tentative, and based on word of mouth.
