This may have been stated, but with 110 pages, I’m not looking for it:

When do you expect to be able to sell these?

    Cheers

  • Hurray!!!  :-D

This project has been gaining speed over the past year.  We are only one sculpt away from completing ITALY (Submarine).  Once complete it will take about 2 months to complete production and freight.  So right now I do not have a FIRM ETA.

HOWEVER, as ITALY is now “In the Bag”, We have already started on GERMANY and will have some sculpts to present soon.

Info on ITALY pre-orders will be available this summer 100% and I know we will be playing with them before the end of the year.

  • Good to hear it FMG. keep up the great work. Also I thought Japan was gonna be next? personally i would like some new UK or Soviet figures first after i get these Italians.

    Good news, and excellent bomber.

  • @cminke:

can you give us the aprox. order the conuntries are going to be compleeted in?

    It’s been posted already:
    @FieldMarshalGames:

The “Extras” set will be Grey like the classic ICs of most games.

As for Canadians…  not in the plan at the moment.  We kinda have our hands full with the 9 nations we are working on.  Release should be in this order:

    ITALY
    JAPAN
    “Extras set”
    USA
    GERMANY
    USSR
    UK
ANZAC (Diff colour than UK and with a few specific units of its own)
    FRANCE

    If all goes as planed;
    CHINA???
    NEUTRALS???
    Canadians???
    Tech Units???

NOTE: ITALY is the first, and is taking the longest.  Once ITALY is complete the others will move much faster. This is due to set-up, factory experience and of course… funds.

    @FieldMarshalGames:

We are making ICs, Naval Bases, Air bases, AA guns etc…  as the LAST set.

But I will use these until that is ready.

Based on the switch with Germany and the July 15 post, we can probably assume the order will be revised or similar to:

    ITALY
    GERMANY
    JAPAN
    USA
    USSR
    UK
ANZAC (Diff colour than UK and with a few specific units of its own)
    FRANCE
    “Extras set”

    CHINA???
    NEUTRALS???
    Canadians???
    Tech Units???

The Extras Set has been defined as
    @FieldMarshalGames:

    BUNKER
    NAVAL BASE
    AIR BASE
    ARMY HQ

The above will be included in a separate set and will include IC, Minor IC, TASK FORCE MARKER and AAA gun.

Japan was going to be next but the interest in Germany in other threads seemed to dictate a change.

  • Certianly France should have all unique units, and except for mech inf( they should have bren carreirs), transports, subs, battleships, and aircraft carriers Australian and Canadian units should all be unique. If there must be a Chinese set it should just be land units plus the curtiss P-40 to represent the flying tigers. The molds for artillery, mech, and armor should be old Japanese, Soviet and US equipment.

I suppose a neutral set would consist of inter-war period equipment that was commonly exported weapons and generic infantry and commander pieces.

What would the tech set include? I think it would be impossible to find unique unit tech pieces for each nation as you would have to make some up. Perhaps it would use generic or iconic looking tech pieces in each countries color save the chinese and neutral color.

Good job on the new italian bomber. Can’t wait to see the submarine. you can bet i’ll preorder the day I find out you are taking them. Best of luck FMG on the German pieces and beyond.

  • Forever people have wanted these tech pieces. Here are my suggestions for what their molds should be.

    Rockets: German V-2
Super Submarine: Japanese I-400(the super sub is a very general idea, I-400 was an submarine aircraft carrier so in this case the three bombers onboard account for the increased attack ability)
    Long Range Fighter: US P-38
    Jet Fighter: UK Gloster Meteor
Long Range Jet Fighter: German Me-262 ( yes i know it isnt a long range aircraft, but it was the longest range WW2 jet fighter to my knowledge)
Long Range Bomber: UK Vickers Wellington
    Heavy Bomber: UK Halifax
Long Range Heavy Bomber: US B-29

I would also like to see a rocket artillery tech, and so that the soviets can have a tech unit

    Rocket/Advanced Artillery: Soviet BM-13 Katayusha

There should also be some neutral/facility tech pieces
    Radar Station
Advanced IC that is bigger than the major IC piece
Advanced Shipyard, it should attach to the IC pieces

Its important to discuss this now so that none of the tech pieces are used as national pieces.

  • What an excellent bomber piece! I can’t wait to get the whole set into my grubby little hands…

The B-29 is already the most popular choice for the FMG us bomber mold (though personally I’d prefer the Liberator).

However, it sounds as though you’re suggesting these molds would be good for all countries?  Dunno about you, but I sure don’t ever plan on seeing a game with tech as german to use a p38 for a long range fighter.  But then, I’d never switch out all my air pieces just to reflect “drop tanks” and “larger engines” .  You don’t BUY long range fighters and leave standard planes in play unless it’s a house rule, and it would be an annoyance to have to pick each fighter out to replace with jet tech or long range tech, or jet & long range tech, especially if its in place of an actual country specific unit (why would you want a 262 for US jet tech?).

The only pieces that seem appropriate would be heavy tanks, heavy artillery, jet fighters, and possibly heavy bombers, but that would mean FMG doesn’t mold the popular B29 or others in advance, which seems like it would frustrate those who hope to use fmg pieces as tech or house rules, etc, considering how polls have gone.

If tech was done I’d hope for at the least a jet for each side, if not nation.  Italy would have used the 262 had they even been in the war at that point and the Japanese had a prototype based on it.  The US was developing the shooting star, but the Meteor was used by the allies first.  The russians had their own thing going.  But I still can’t imagine actually using the new pieces for OOB rule tech as it’s so rare and they apply as a blanket revision, which requires removing and replacing a ton of pieces.  But that’s me.

  • kcdzim, I agree with alot of what you said. However FMG has hinted that they will make a tech set, so my suggestion was a simple 12 mold set that people have pretty much been wanting since the original A&A in order to visually represent tech wheather they are using house rules or not.

What it comes down to is what people want from a tech pieces set? I think it is important to discuss these things now so there isnt any overlap or confusion.

There is gonna be plenty of armor and artillery for unique heavy tanks and artillery with the individual nation sets. If you just want nation specific jet fighters, i dont think that qualifies as a tech set.

cminke, why would the BM-13 be used as the mech unit? its artillery. There are plenty of other amored cars and light tanks that could be used.

And yah the type XXI would be a good alternate to the I-400, I just picked the I-400 because it is very large with an extremely distinctive feature and so that at least one of the tech units was Japanese.

  • The BA-64 is just one possiblity. Almost ten thousand were produced.

  • Whatever happened to Bunkers and Army HQ?

  • @Raeder:

Whatever happened to Bunkers and Army HQ?

The extras set will include factories, pill boxes, army hq, naval bases, air bases, task force markers and AA guns.  they aren’t nation specific and have no real reason to be.

Hey FMG, I noticed that the new SM-79 Sparviero Bomber unit has not been posted into the main FMG Italian pieces thread. Just to make you aware of that.

Okay, so just to confirm the complete Italian air units we have:

    Macchi C202 Folgore Fighter

    Breda BA.65 Tactical Bomber

Fiat BR20 Medium Bomber (This unit actually was a med. bomber so am I right in thinking that the Transport is for house rules etc?)

Savoia-Marchetti SM-79 Sparviero Bomber (Is this unit a Heavy Bomber? According to many online sources, this unit was originally designed as an air transport, so I’m not sure about the Fiat BR20 being a Transport…)

Just trying to clarify what all the Italian air unit designations are. Thanks!
