Hey Jeremy,
Why isn’t the SM 79 picture on the page with all the other sculpt pictures? It’s not on the FMG Combat Pieces Italy page either.IL has to unlock the forum for me to post. I think he is on vacation.
-
Didn’t get PM on that. Unlocked now.

I like the mech unit for Italy. Kinda different but nice.
-
Just saw the mech inf. and bomber pieces. They look great FMG.
-
Good to see the SM.79 Sparviero represented.
I don’t recognize the heavy bomber unit, who’s the manufacturer and what’s the designation?
-
I believe you are referring to the Fiat BR20 (This unit was actually a medium bomber during the war).
As for the Savoia-Marchetti SM-79 Sparviero bomber, I understand FMG have designated this unit as a heavy bomber. Although according to many online sources, this unit was originally designed as an air transport.
FMG could you please clarify your Italian air unit designations? Thank you! :-)
-
The first one designated as “Italian Heavy Bomber” was a mistake. It has been replaced with the SM 79, which will be considered as the Italian Heavy Bomber. The first one, which looks more like a G4M “Betty” Bomber for Japan (which I think is what it will be used for) is NOT going to be in the final Italian lineup.
-
Okay, so am I correct in my understanding that the supposed Fiat BR20 Transport - Medium Bomber piece is now actually a Japanese Betty bomber and will not be included in the Italian set? FMG, can you please confirm? Thank you.

This will be the Italian BOMBER
-
This will be the Italian AIR TRANSPORT / ALTERNATE BOMBER

Excellent!!
And now we’re just waiting for the Italian sub??#737

Italian Submarine is already finished! The sculptor is already working on the Germans.
I am just waiting on production samples of the Italians for final approval before they go into full production

I will have a sub pic this week. Just waiting on update (I have been told it is finished)
Once I have production samples I will have some AWESOME pictures to show.

Thought I would add,the Italian Fiat BR20 was used by Japan(85 planes) during the early
war period. Also used by several other countries. -
What model is the Italian submarine? I know of two from my A&A Miniatures War At Sea collection:
Ambra
Leonardo da VinciIs it one of these two or another model I haven’t seen yet?

Do you have any firm plans for these units for Japan yet? Thank you.
-
Hey Lozmoid,
While the Fiat BR20 may have been used by the Japanese, I am pretty sure it will NOT be included in the Japanese lineup. In making these sets, FMG wants each piece to be unique to that country. So, I am sure the Japanese Transport Plane/Medium Bomber will be a model that was uniquely Japanese, both in production and use. Also, the Mitsubishi G4M bomber IS the “Betty”. “Betty” was the Allied classification for this bomber and G4M was the Japanese classification. Like the Mitsubishi A6M fighter was referred to as “Zero” or “Zeke” by the Allies.

knp7765, many thanks to you for clearing this up! :-)
It’s just that I was under the impression that the Fiat BR20 sculpt had already been described by some viewers as being the Japanese G4M. Sorry about the confusion. I’m sure FMG will clarify all this in time.
