After opening round, if you keep an AAA instead of an Infantry, you are gambling a lesser chance to hit one plane, 1/6 or below 1/6 (1/8 or 1/10), against a 2/6 odds of killing an enemy unit, attacker’s choice.
Yes forgot to mention that. Also attackers planes should get to retreat at any time.
You could put a cap on shots at planes. I think the AA’s shottin every round may hurt the Axis the most.
Also have to worry about the AA dicing your planes out on 1st round.Have a game. Using the D12. Also going to test the D12 @2 1st round then @1 rest of rounds.
For the D6 games I try D6 AA shots at planes 1st round and then the D10’s rest of round.

AA still costs 5 IPC, now called ID (Infrastructure defense), may have more than one ID per territory. Each ID has two AA (Anti-aircraft) rolls and two CB (Coastal battery) rolls.
An AA “search” roll selects and targets an enemy aircraft in opening-fire and succeed on four or less. An AA “attack” roll selects a found enemy aircraft in opening-fire and hits on one or less. An ID may not use two AA “attack” rolls on the same enemy aircraft.
A CB “search” roll selects an enemy transport in the opening-fire of land portion of amphibious assault and succeed on four or less. A CB “attack” roll selects a found enemy transport in the opening-fire of the land portion of amphibious assault and hits on one or less. An ID may not use two CB “attack” rolls on the same transport.IC has new costs, includes 2 IDs built-in.

Our rule models building up of AA in production regions but also allows build up of AA in outposts.
For phase 1 final release we retracted the CB (coastal battery) part.
So ID (infrastructure defense) is back to AA (antiaircraft).
We also made it that all “search” rolls has to be performed before any “attack” rolls.Full set as well as justifications in italics posted here http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=6743.0.

Search roll sounds too complicated, why not just stick to the one die roll for each aircraft and hit on a die roll of 1. The AA ability should be built-in for all ICs and only aply for SBRs! Maybe the cost for an IC should be raised?

The OOB rule of one die per enemy aircraft is massively unrealistic. It had to go!

Yeah we have AA built-in for all ICs in phase 1.
As for applying only for SBR…that depends on which way you think of it. Conventional combat can occur near factories. Those factories’ AA can still fire.
