This luck better start turning. I still think I have the game, but if every Allied unit keeps hitting it’ll be no contest.

    Burma: 2 inf 1 art vs 1 inf 1 AA: you lose 1 inf - average
    Chahar: You are quite unlucky, but you could have avoided the fighter loss by retreating
    sz 8: 1 DD, 1 Sub vs 1 DD: You win loosing one 1 - happens, not massively unlucky
    Kweichow: you looes one 1 - unlucky, but not massively (1/3 after all)
    Shan State: same battle, you loose nothing (1 of the other 2/3 of above)
    Szechwan: ok, that went really bad for you as well.
    French Indochina: attack 4 against 2, no losses - could have also gone worse

    All in all, I would say that you had two battles that went really bad, the remaing battles were, in sum, slightly in your favor. With so many battles (all of them somewhat risky), it would basically be surprising if not at least one of them would go really bad for you. So, in a way, the bad luck for you is only that you had two battles that went bad instead of one. Compare that with my UK turn were I got pounded in Yunnan and in Iraq (2 out of 2 battles), and it doesn’t look so bad anymore. (NB that if the Iraq strafing mission hadn’t failed so miserably, you probably wouldn’t even be there now)

    Anyway: Intercept in Western Germany? Bombing raid with all 5 bombers from London.

  • NB that I’m assuming here that my Calcutta airfield is still operational with 3 damage. If that should not be the case, I’d obviously spend 1 IPC to repair it. (Strangely enough, AAA asked me during the UK Europe repair phase if I wanted to repair it).

    The bombing raid on Germany was ok. Clearly, I’d hoped to loose only 1 bomber, but its still a net gain for me. In particular shooting down that fighter is good. Your Luftwaffe is not in the best shape.

    The rest went quite well too, admittedly.

    And I disagree with you that you are in control of the board. The only place where you cause real trouble is the middle east (which is unsurprising, since you threw virtually everything you could in that direction). Russia is safe and snug. In the pacific, you’re not near taking any of the three victory cities, let alone two. Your Japanese income is low, as is your German income, too, btw. You are about to loose control over China, ANZAC is gonna bounce back if you don’t move back there, and the US can basically focus on Europe while maybe putting some IPC in the pacific to keep the pressure up.

  • Hm, still looking for an answer to the airbase question on harrisgamedesign.

    However, I noted two interesting bits that we (I think) did both wrong, regarding the political status of Russia.

    a) Attacking Korea and/or declaring war on Japan does not invalidate the Mongolian defense treaty (at least not according to the Alpha+3 rules)
    b) While Russia is not at war with Japan, it is still considered neutral on the pacific side of the map. That means, in particular, that US units cannot move into Russian territories (although I have to say that this doesn’t make massively sense, since it appears that there is no penalty for Russia to declare war on Japan).
