  • Finland was a joke. It wiped out the Allied bid in a flurry of red dice. On a G1, it’s imperative that Russia gets a little bump in economy for a couple rounds. Oh well.

    On G1, I would have scrambled in SZ111 as a matter of course - I always do, as it is a no-lose scenario for the UK. It’s a little late to go back. Since I’m a little emotional about the silliness of the Finland battle, it’s not a good time for me to think rationally about what to do about it.

  • Good news! I rolled really well with Japan, so that should take your mind off Finland :)

    Sorry about the scramble, I didn’t think you would want to throw away a British fighter. If you want to scramble it will be pretty easy. The combat went as follows:

    Round 1 - I had 1 hit (your bs) and you had 0
    Round 2 - I had 5 hits you had 1

    This means you can roll your fighter for 2 rounds - even if it hits in round 1, all of your units, including the plane,  die in round 2 (3 boats + the fighter). I will leave it up to you to decide (you can roll on the forum). Take the sub (or reluctantly subs) as hits.


  • No, I’m good for SZ111. Hindsight makes it very hard to choose what to do one way or the other.

    Man, Axis luck at the beginning of games is all that’s needed to get the edge. So far, advantage Axis!  :-)


  • Actually, I apologize Hank - I didn’t look at the battle first before reacting. Usually, Germany brings just enough to strafe 111, which means scrambling the fighter makes total sense - a hit just for scrambling.

    But with what you brought, I probably would have not scrambled.

  • Ok, man, I’m getting diced really bad, and this is no fun. My entire move was predicated on taking Norway, and removing 8 IPCs from Germany (and adding 6 to UK) over the next couple rounds. I was willing to lose my bomber to do it.

    It didn’t jhappen suddenly… I had like five rolls at a 4 with my bomber, and no hits. It was excruciating.

    This sucks.


  • Diced bad is a bit of an understatement with Norway. That does suck. Fortunately, I don’t think it’s a game changer. Also, Italy still has to go, and let’s face it, if the Italians are good at one thing it is sucking at war!
