    @Daaras Honestly I had planned to move my cruiser to 117 to block an amphib into Leningrad, but it seems it baited your fleet into the baltic instead of contesting UK for one more round so I’m totally ok with it lol

    I had left Egypt open so I could recapture with US and have the factory there because I had expected to not be able to retake UK on this turn

    @Daaras yeah NP.

    It definitely was a trade off between Russian stack and UK, I can see both ways. I personally would have played keeping UK out but it does take a lot from the eastern front.


  • @mr_stucifer Yeah, I felt like when I did that, I just kinda got stuck with Germany. I couldn’t ever advance East, and the income eventually just overwhelmed Germany. Idk, It is what it is, I’m having fun either way.

    @Daaras making a small edit during NCM on USA, I moved fleet to 96 and then to 99 because I was picking up the artillery but it made the fighters only have 1 movement left instead of 2, and I spaced that so I am using edit mode to move 3 to Southern France

  • @mr_stucifer I think I am ready to concede. We can keep playing it out if you want, japan is interesting but euroaxis is obviously dead.

    I’d like to ask a few questions if you don’t mind. The turn I killed the russians, you said you wouldve saved london. How far into that test did you go, or was it more just a general feeling? I felt that eventually the Russians would just overwhelm Germany in the east and then it was over. I thought the best chance I had was to attack the Russian stack and hope for good dice, unfortunately for me the dice we bad.

    Also, what do you think is a fair bid? My brothers and I have some thoughts, generally that the axis need easily double digits, but maybe I just suck with them. idk. This game felt pretty miserable as germany and I’m not sure what I did wrong. Is Sea Lion just terrible? I even had the very favorable Scotland battle too

    @Daaras So my personal opinion is not that Sea Lion is terrible, but it usually takes so many resources that you do have to grapple with a strong Russia. The strategy Sea Lion opens up is helping Italy secure the Med and the Middle East. I am leaning towards best opening buy for Germany of carrier, destroyer, and transport or sub. Force UK to spend money in London not in Africa if you can starting round 1. If they don’t, take London.

    You will eventually lose UK if the US player pouring every dollar into the Atlantic, so Japan has to find a way to force US investment in the Pacific. The best strategy there is probably an ANZAC crush, if you are pairing with a Sea Lion Germany. I have only completed a dozen games or so of PTV. 5 of which are against your brother, and Axis won 4 of those 5 games.

    I also think getting infantry on the Southern route into Russia is super important, you can leave the Baltic pretty lightly contested for the inital clash with Russia because you have so many transports.

    I think Germany needs to be very heavy on infantry purchases for a Sea Lion for several rounds and not expect to push into Ukraine. Secure Leningrad first and hold Romania/Bessarabia.

    Also as far as Eastern Poland battle goes, I remember looking at the battle calculator and your average units remaining on a victory were 11 or 13?. Considering you had 4 tanks and all your Air Force left (when you would lose one on average to AA) I think it came out pretty average or even in your favor, TUV wise.

    To consider keeping UK out of the game costs the Allies about 30 IPCs per turn. And generates +13 for Germany with Scotland and NO. As long as you can capture Leningrad soon after, you should be at 70 income before getting to Ukraine.


  • @mr_stucifer Part of my reasoning was that I felt the Russians had enough to hold Leningrad if I didn’t take it that turn. Which is why I went for them. I also felt that holding London would’ve just left me essentially doing nothing, and I couldn’t hold of America and Russia. Idk, I don’t think I played it well, but I’m up for a rematch.

    @Daaras Yes, thinking about it a little bit I think it was untenable either way, with how you used the UK IPCs on units the previous round. The tanks/mechs gave you reach on the eastern front, but no help for Italy/Atlantic Wall. IMO you would have been better off buying infantry and beefing up your air force, this would have given you the flexibility to defend the west that the panzer corps could not.
