Yeah, I kind of agree with you Variance. Europe is where most of the action is. Plus, if you just play Europe, it takes up a lot less space on the table.
Yet, every time I think, let’s just play Europe, I already start to miss the Japanese. I just can’t seem to get into a game without the Japanese making trouble on the other side of the board.
What Scupts to use for France
-
How about the middle row to the far right. It has the trenchcoat and it shows the weapon about as high as they actually raised it.
-
how about the one w. no helmet, he is about to surrender??? :-D…I know NOT funny… :x
since the Frenchies best tank was the Char B1 ( I like the SOMUA S35 better)I would go w. the Japanese tank, it looks like the closest…How about the Italian Tank?..is it gonna be a Carro Armato P 40?..
-
I think the french inf should be like the Italian ones. Unarmed, and flipping you off.

I japanese tanks do not look anything like french tanks. Japanese tanks are really light, while the CharB1 was about the heavist tank on the battleifld in 1940 with a 75mm howitzer. I think the matilda would be fine, but also think the somua looks a lot like the t34.
Somua 35
T-34
Type 95 HaGo

we are talking 'bout the sculpts right?!..and I don’t think they make an extra one for france just because…so I was thinking for the sculpts allready out there in service, that Japanese one would be the closest call…but hey your right on the rest, Char B1’s and Soumas and T34 were given the Germans a very hard time…the 3.7mm anti-tank gun couldn’t penetrade their armor…later on the called that gun army knock knock device >1:1 translated< :-D
-
FMG will probably make a sculpt for french tanks.

Yah, I am just saying that the somua s35 looks alot like the t-34 and nothing like the Type95HaGo, so the t34 should be the mold used for french tanks.

What needs to stand out on the French tank is two things.
It has to look like its from the 30’s. Fit that style etc.
It also has to have a small looking main weapon. Most French tanks didnt go over 75mm guns, or even get close to that number.
The Italian and Japanese tank molds fit that style more than the…
German Tank - An Icon of WWII
US Tank - An Icon of WWIIAnd the other two tanks look too heavy set and rugged
USSR Tank - The T-34 Monster (although it is in a 30’s style)
UK Tank - Near 1940’s Style, and a big looking tank. The French tank has to look inadiquite and small. The french doctrine was to use Tanks like cavalry, but that isnt their true purpose, yet there are similarities. The French Tanks were nimble, but too small to breaktrough. They were used to flank german formations, but since the german formations they encountered were tanks themselves, the french were out gunned. The french put their big guns on the Maginot line, in bunkers…tanks that were to big to move. And they split the difference with light tanks.
Armored warfare is not one of extremes, it requires a solid tank, well rounded speed, armor, weaponry. Because tanks are most usefull in formations on their own, with mechinized infantry support sprinkled in.

My guess is that the french will only last two turns max. And all those french pieces will sit in their tray.
(Rank = 69)
-
Judging by the 5 tray pacific….france wont even have its own tray

I guess Italy and France must share tray. That is no problem since they propably wont get many pieces. Italy got 2 cruisers in AA50, now they might got 1.
-
I can’t wait to see what FMG is going to offer.
-
but china got its own tray and it only has infantry. be optimistic guys! how many armies are going to be in europe?

Let’s see,
ALLIES:
Russia, UK, France & USAAXIS:
Germany & ItalyThat makes a total of 6.
-
Assuming europe’s box will be the same size, it will only hold 5 trays
I assume the french will be lumped in with the Americans -

-
WTF no, lump them in with Italy. Let the two minors share tray.
-
lump 'em in w. the german pieces…
-
Hell put them in their own gamebox. That way after Round 1 you can put them away until the next game.
-
Put them in a holiday gift basket with Pate and Brie.
