We started a new game again last night. This time as allies I was very conservative as Russia and in the first turn I only attacked West Russia. After the 2nd turn now there is a standstill wall in that area with Germany and Russia. As UK and USA I bought factories in India and China, and that seems to be holding off Japan. So far the game looks like it might be going the allies way but admittedly a lot of success was due to the rolls. I guess you have to remember a lot of the game is luck, and the axis player has just been having the worst rolls ever. As Russia buying tanks and inf I still can’t push safely into Germany though. I am still just holding the line.

RE: Damaged Factory Question
I’m trying to understand the risk of doing an SBR. Say I take 3 bombers, risk getting them shot down by A&A and defending fighters, somehow make it through (which is unlikely), roll 3 dice and get a 2, 4 and 6. Then the other player just has to pay 12 IPCs on their turn and place max units?
if you are sending bombers against AA with defending fighters, then the odds do become much less in your favor of coming out ahead in the IPC race for SBR. Though if they are using defending fighters at that IC, then there may be another IC that may be more open to attack.
SBR is a balance and not without risk, but it can be worth it in right situations:
pros:
-You could lose your bombers
-could lose escorts
=lost IPCs in order to rebuild or units not used other places
cons:
-they could loose production up to 2x the value of the territory
-or have to pay IPCs to fix production capability
-or could lose interceptors (remote)
-or could not be able to use interceptors in other battles
=in some manner or other less units rolling out to fight youAhh! I never thought of the combined SBR and attack movement. So what you are saying is the defender has to choose which planes are to defend against the SBR and then which ones are going to be used to defend the territory/unit attack? ie. He can’t use the same planes in the 2 defensive situations? I might try this out…

Damaged Factory Question
If you pay to repair your factory at the beginning of your turn can you place as many units at the end of the same turn as the repaired factory? Or can you only place as many as the damaged factory can allow at the beginning?

Basic Ally Strategies
Hi,
I am a semi-noob at A&A, I bought A&A:E in the early 2000s and have now just purchased A&A:1942. I’ve played about 5 games and each game the axis has won, the strategy being Germany invades West Russia, Japan attacks East Russia, and as long as Germany has some naval units taking out transports trying to come into France or Italy as well as guarding the east coast with just enough defending units, the allies can’t get on land. Then once Russia is gone, with the IPCs gained it’s only a matter of time before it’s all over.
My question is, as the allies I don’t see how to win with enough time before Germany and Japan take out Russia completely and also being able to successfully doing a land invasion in time, in either eastern europe or the island of Japan. I guess I’m just missing something, are there any basic ideas/tips you can give me to help and avoid this same scenario over and over again?
