Looking for anyone to play with in the PDX area, I have the game so we could meet at a venue somewhere (I have one near my house). I have a couple of local friends who I play with but would love some more competition.

Tips for 1940 table
I was wondering if anyone on the forum had any idea on how to put together a table dedicated for 1940 global. I am unsure how to get the board itself on the table, either by printing the board out on a large poster board, taping it to a table, etc, etc,

Vichy rules
I’ve been trying to come up with a good Vichy house rule for my playgroup (preferably one that didn’t help the axis anymore). I had an idea that the French units in any territory be neutral (after Paris fell) but would join a side when either axis or allied troops tried to land in the territory. For example on a roll of 1 or 2 the French units joined the Allies (this means they would fight the axis if they tried to land) and became “free French”, on a 3 or 4 the units joined Vichy French and would fight for Vichy France (controlled by either Italy or Germany) finally on a 5-6 the units would remain neutral and not fight either side. Vichy territory IPC’s would be spent in the south of France by one of the axis players. Free French territories could place infantry anywhere in Free French African territory. Sub Saharan Africa starts free french and southern France and Vietnam would start Vichy.
(This house rule would require special Vichy sculpts)
Basically this idea would place french units on a knifes edge and make some strategies a little more risky. I think this would also be coupled with an increased number of French units on the board in general. -
Newbie Question
How exactly do I play Axis and Allies online, I love the game but often don’t have many people to play with, and an online version would be perfect. I have heard about it but haven’t actually found it.

How to catch opponents off guard
In the next couple of days I will be playing a game as the axis, I will probably be all of the axis powers (maybe giving Italy to a newer player to lean the ropes). Me and my play group seem to have kind of gotten into a rather repetitive theme of for the first couple of turn where its ver scripted. What should I do to catch my opponents off guard? Sealion, G1 attack on Russia, rushing Syndney, Sealion? I just want to be able to catch my opponents off guard and mix up the early game.

RE: Evening it out
Ok, although the real problem for him seems to be the late game, he gets super close to closing it out, and then he loses either japan or Italy for the allies. Can you think of anything that effects the late game more?

RE: Evening it out
Ok, how much for axis and how much for allies, he needs less of a leg up when he plays axis.

Evening it out
In my area I only have one friend who has the endurance to play a full 1940 global game, however I can beat him in almost every game, wether he is axis or not. What is a good way to even out the teams and make the games more competitive?
FYI: we play with altered rules where the allies only need two allied capitals to win and that the axis need to take 11-12 victory cities on the whole map to win.
Any ideas to even it out would be appreciated. -
RE: Alternate British Med Strategy
I think we are having a misunderstanding, I’m skipping Taranto, killing the destroyer and transport in sz 96 with the main Uk fleet, and then I am using my planes to attack the small weaker Italian navy in sz 95, leaving Taranto unscathed.

RE: Alternate British Med Strategy
My thought was that the remaining navy would still be strong enough to fight the BB and destroyer. This way you also use all of the units in the med that you can as opposed to having some not come online until a turn later, like the fighter at gibraltar and the transport.
