You should check out Young Grasshoppers videos for global(you’ll see all the units on the Europe map at start-up)
Sometimes I find units do sort of spill over into nearby zones. In our last game we had a lot of units parked in Romania. We parked aaa guns and air units in the black sea and just announced that they’re all in Romania.Point the noses of the planes at the territory you want them to be in so there’s less chance of confusion.
Europe

It was said that in the start of the game, the Axis would have no control of North Africa.
Also, the Europe board will include all of Africa.

I dont know where you heard that, this is 1940, Italy is going to have huge armies in africa. Its just Germany that wont have anything in africa or the med.

Per Larry
East Africa – how will this be represented in AAE40?
Well I think so. I mean the French, the Italians and the British are all represented down there. I mean there’s Kenya, Tanganyika Territory, Rhodesia, Union of South Africa, South West Africa, British Somaliland, Anglo-Egyptian Sudan and an administered from London - Belgian Congo, and that’s just the British stuff… Hope this answers your question -
Man I cannot wait to see what exactly these maps will look like and also see them together!
-
I think you speak for all of us with that comment
-
Speaking of the Europe map. Does anyone know what the time frame will be when we’ll get our first look at it?
-
Let’s hope EAF has a italian roundel printed and starts with a couple of shiny italian units 8-)
-
Well, massive hordes of chinamen are represented by 4 patetic infs that usually are killed round 1 :-P 1941 is a fantasy scenario indeed!
-
lol, I am going to start calling the medeteranian that…
-
Modifications must be made for game balance
-
I hope not. With so much time to prepare, testers should correct the setup and not repeat the mess of 1941 scenario (the fantasy scenario if you ask me). It should be work of testers, not of players :|
I think this time will be better, we’ll have a non-broken China for 1st time in a global game and probably starting ICs at India and Australia
-
Yea Larry has mentioned the short comings of China in AA50. I figure that was just a test run as they had to be already working on AA40 (or at least the concept) at the time. I’m sure they will get it right this time. I also think that at some point in the future (when he’s not so busy) that he will give us an alternate set up for China in AA50 based on the new info.

It’s possible. He did a fix for the old AAP a time ago, so it can happen again. A fix modifing setup and maybe changing chinese rules would be welcomed. I guess it will be included in any future reprint
-
lol china did lose incredibly quickly…
-
What would you expect if Japan unleashes it’s full might against it.
-
I expect them to run out of ammunition…literally

In a non-fantasy scenario, China should have reserves, you know, men behind their lines to fill holes in the front. In fact, they should have horde reserves
But 1941 scenario China has not any reserves and cannot buy more than 1 inf or 2 infs in the whole game if Japan attacks in force. China has not even a army after J1 if Japan attacks 4 territories, just a small garrison in Sinkiang :|
It will change in AA40, by luck

Re:China
At the very least you should use the 42 set up for both scenarios. Then I would like to see the set up for Yunnan and Sikang switched, giving the flying tiger protection round one on Sinkang W/2 inf. I also think China should be allowed in Burma for sure, maybe FIC. I also would like a Burma road bonus like in AA40. If the allies have control of India, Burma,Yunnan (maybe include one more adjoining Chinese tt) then China can upgrade 1 of its popping inf into an artillery that turn. Personally I would like for the US to be able to replace the Tiger but I don’t think that would fly. I would be ok with just moving it at set up or adding a couple inf to it’s tt at set up as Larry has mentioned awhile back. -
In the game Japan’s strategy is different than it was in WWII. China doesn’t last in the game because Japan strategy in the game is to March through China and help Germany crush Russia.
-
That’s why we don’t think China should be just a walk in the park for Japan. Conquering China was one of the Japanese goals of expansion. It didn’t fully achieve that goal in WWII. If China falls early then yea Japan is at Russia’s back door. China should be more then just a stumbling block, and if left unchecked should be able to chip away at Japans income. It needs some artillery and the tiger to do that.
