I didn’t realize the facility in Spain as an air base. I thought it was a minor industrial complex. Guess I’m not familar with the new map icons enough.
Great game. You played brilliantly and helped add a lot of new ideas and strategies for this game. I’ll definitely learn from you.
I noticed another error in the map (in addition to the one I mentioned earlier about the sea zones between ANZAC and the Panama Canal/Central America):
The Mongolian territory Dzavhan looks like it is connected to Timguska, yet it actually isn’t on the original/actual board/map. The map’s code recognizes this and forces units to cros Olgiy or Yenisey to move into Timguska. However, as the Japanese on turn 7 I was unaware of this. This oversight in the map is one of the reasons why I decided not to continue the game.
I will have both sides be played by the AI to double check whether the Navies were truly doomed.
Unfortunately due to technical issues (out of Java heap space, “IllegalStateException: Not a transport:carrier owned by Russians”), the AI was unable to play the game to victory conditions.

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the game. I did not expect an immediate surrender from your side, given the fact that the Navies still had more income and TUV than the Armies. I thought you could try to retake London with the massive Navy fleet. It will be hard to the Germans to keep threatening the UK homeland because they needs to make sure the transports are safe. I guess the Russian-Japanese will be a stalemate, and the Russians willl try to make a push into Africa. The Americans can probably move into Spain at some point.
I don’t know, I don’t think the Navies are completely defeated, perhaps they have a chance.
We could play this game out, or we could start a new one. In the latter case, I am going to bring up the couple of connection errors we found to Black_Elk first (this map has not thorougly been tested so that’s why some of the neutrals that almost never come into play have connection errors). And I will also make some corrections to the XML code of the Armies vs Navies module. I noticed some of the flags were being placed every turn instead of just once, and the true_neutrals units don’t become Axis when moving into them.
Anyway, fun game! I like how this variant has more focus on out-of-the-box thinking than sheer experience. Since it has never been played before, there is really no meta for any country, we have to find out ourselves.
Thanks for the response! I thought the Navies were defeated after you broke through the Middle East and proved inpenetrable in Asia (not helped by my map oversights). While I do think I could’ve made some progress in Spain and liberated London, I felt there was little chance of winning the IPC race once the Soviets grabbed Africa.
I’m open to continue playing. If not, I’m thinking of giving the Armies a 300% IPC multiplier while giving the Navies a 200% IPC multplier (so the Navies have 2/3 of the Armies’ multiplier instead of half) as a way to balance the game (more IPCs means more units, which generally means more fun).
But we’ll continue playing first.
