I changed an Anzac NCM when I realized some SZ struggles for France. No dice were rolled.
Early bad fortune for me (see Italian fleet battles) followed by your ruthless play with bombers has brought us to the precipice. Or, maybe I should say I’m on the precipice. Still, until I’m knocked out, the fight isn’t over.
India is a 60% battle, and a great deal of blood should be spilled regardless. There’s no denying the dice haven’t been on my side so far, but should that swing…
All the chatter about dice and luck doesn’t obscure that you’re a very tough player.

It’s funny with dice, one tends to always focus on the negatives. I feel like the dice have been pulling for you since I4 :)

I don’t doubt you. I think it generally gets colored early, then a person (me?) uses cherry picked results to back up their hunch. So I probably chalk up the luck going my way to ‘balance’ but see anything that goes against me as more evidence that the deck is stacked. I can admit that’s how I feel about this game, but I also recognize the margin is so thin due to your skill.
That having been said - not all dice foibles are created equal - when and where they happen can mean everything… the ripple effects of specific battles/regions can be immense. I’ve learned in several games now just how devastating it can be to have a couple bad early battles against Italy in the Med. Once the Axis gets any traction whatsoever around Egypt, etc. it’s very hard to stop the bleeding… and the inverse is true. If the UK solidifies Egypt early, it’s very hard for the Axis to pry it away.
I’ve been playing for years with some form of modified version of LL in face to face games, to keep silly, untimely dice from ruining an otherwise great time. With kids, it’s so hard to get together and carve out time over a gaming board. So it’s been a shock to my system to come back to raw dice rolls, for better and worse.
Game on! I accept all that’s happened, and all that’s to come. I’m not dead yet :-)
