@leemorrison You’re being polite. Yes I got my bomber and some air shot down during the first two turns but I overextended very badly with Japan, mostly because I underestimated the value the tanks would give you in terms of exploiting openings in my positions.

i don’t mind, say, losing a few extra units, or even losing close battles by a hairs breadth,
but getting 0/5 hits, then you getting 4/5, and basically completely altering the whole naval dynamic in the region by so badly losing a 75% win battle…. is why i hate dice
(mind you, 25% chance to lose assumes you do not ever retreat… if you retreat at the first sign that the chance to win goes below 50%, then you shouldn’t ever get crushed so badly) -
Whoa! :-o Totally unexpected, pal
Mmmm… probably you’re right. Revised, Anniversary and G40 are a thing, because they where tested for dice playing, and those games have aircraft, that changes the strafing dinamic. This map, lacking air units, probably is best suited for LL. This is my first 270 BC game, but I noticed this anyway, so I agree with you
Well, the good news are that, since Yoshi acepted a draw in our friendly epic-scale G40 game, and Narushima surrended in our NWO game, this is my only TripleA game currently active, so I’ll probably can play at least one round each day (well, tomorrow probably not, I have a Warhammer 40000 game). I’ll try playing more quickly from now :-)

I’m a little surprised you didn’t attack the Romans big stack in sicily.
I didn’t plan far enough ahead to have that one or two extra roman units there that I needed to have the chance be less than 50/50. (I haven’t known what in heck to do with the romans all game, to be honest.)
I figured you behind a conservative player, and the fact that you could see that I could only add a couple more units this round (thereby giving you much much better odds if you waited 1 round) would mean you would wait to attack. And I’m glad you did wait. But I think the far better move for you would have been to do a 1 round attack and see if your odds improved. If improved a lot, keep going with the attack (you could end up with 20+ units left or something). If the odds still stay around 50/50 or less, then retreat. Your elephants absorb some hits, so the damage is limited from your strafe (and my damage is limited too).
Considering the other theaters do not look so good for you, this was a chance to use lucky dice to bring the game back for you….

I forgot that you could escape with your navy, just that

I was planning on escaping a lot earlier, either when your fleet forced me to, or when your land forced me to. But since you did just enough of both for me to keep up, I didn’t have to until now. I actually planned to withdraw 2 round ago, but wanted to stay in order to keep Greece’s income up. I also made sure to send romans to their deaths since I knew my transports could not take all of them back.

Mmm… good tactic. I guess that I should had built the Macedonian and Seleucid 2nd cities in places less in the way of enemy attacks. Probably the best idea was build Seleucid cities north of Anatolia…
